So you agree that Farage's proposed cuts to Scottish funding could alienate many Scottish voters currently considering voting for Reform?
comment in response to post
Unlikely, once people realise that Farage wants to end free prescriptions, cut local government spending further and end free bus travel for over 60s.

Interestingly, Rupert Lowe once described Holyrood as "nothing more than a talking shop". That's what it would become if Reform were ever successful in cutting funding. Reform will use "DOGE efficiency savings" as a means to remove power from Scotland and Wales.

The funding for spending, which would severely limit the powers of Holyrood. By limiting the powers of local Government, you limit its ability to deliver for the people and therefore make it less viable.
comment in response to post
But I thought Farage wanted to scrap the funding mechanism for Holyrood. Reform's appeal is largely based upon criticism of existing systems, without offering a viable alternative solution. What would you propose to improve democracy in the UK?
comment in response to post
Are you suggesting that Scotland and Wales lose their own Parliaments? What the UK needs is more Parliaments for better regional representation, not less.

Yeah, yeah. That's what they all say 🤣

Isn't it annoying when FB suggests things to buy based upon your search history. I just get garden gnomes flashing their bums.

The IDF are so bloodthirsty that they killed 3 of the Israeli hostages themselves. Israeli officials have admitted that killing the three men who were holding a white flag was a breach of "rules of engagement". www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-m...

There is no legitimate reason to refuse journalists access to Gaza. These are men and women who have reported from warzones across the world and are willing to put their lives on the line to report on the truth. The only people they should fear is the IDF... cpj.org/reports/2023...

Israel continues to bulldoze the homes of Palestinians and build settlements in the West Bank. Driving people out of their homeland, whether through killing them, physical force or simply by making it uninhabitable for Palestinians is officially an act of genocide... www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Here are some basic facts for you. Since 1990, the population of Israel has doubled. Israel grants citizenship for Jews from across the world, so this trend will continue. The average house price in Israel is about $600k, leaving many Israeli citizens struggling to buy a home...

Farage can only continue the grift by being the party of protest, not the party in power. The Conservatives loved him because they thought that he was successful in pushing a right-wing agenda and would steal working class votes from Labour.
comment in response to post
That could turn out to be an own goal.

The role of Reform UK is to con racists with little money into voting for policies that benefit multicultural wealthy elites. It's inevitable that by using dog whistle racist language, the party would attract racist candidates too, which would lead to divisions within the party.

I currently work for a local authority trust and we struggle to fill vacancies despite a huge number of interviews. The problem? The wage isn't enough for the hours and responsibilities being asked of people and retainment is also an issue. Will Reform be calling for higher public sector wages?

They have no problem with hacking peoples phones to obtain personal data illegally. They certainly don't have a problem with sewage and chemicals being dumped into our rivers. And when you hear them suggesting we leave the ECHR, it's because they want to remove your human rights.

When politicians like Farage say that we need to cut red tape, they are telling you that they have no problem with more deaths from tragedies like Grenfell. They have no problem with people losing their jobs and homes because of greedy bankers...

Water companies ripping customers off and refusing to invest in order to make shareholders richer is why we need more regulation. Regulations are simply protections for citizens...

Why would a former Conservative MP make any effort to follow the decisions made by her constituency councils?
comment in response to post
After all these years as an MP, you'd think Andrea Jenkyns would have watched meetings broadcast by her own constituency councils in order to keep up with local matters.

The Conservatives desperately tried to reframe it as a "partial U-turn" in Westminster yesterday.

Heidi Mottram has been Chief Executive of Northumbrian Water since 2010 and earns a salary in excess of £1m. Her mission statement upon joining the company was to make Northumbrian Water "the best water company in the UK on every count". en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidi_M...

On the positive side, shareholders will finally foot the bill for investment that should have happened over a decade ago, improving service to consumers. However, this doesn't make any attempt to hold to account the people responsible for failings.

Votes to end Freedom of Movement and stop forrins coming to the UK and using our NHS. Now disappointed that he has to save more money before he can retire to Spain and will be forced to pay for his own healthcare there. Brexit was built upon selfishness and exceptionalism.
comment in response to post
A true Reform Patriot. "When I eventually save enough to move to Spain..." Brexit was all about removing freedoms for the poorest in society. People like Farage and Johnson didn't care because they knew that it wouldn't affect them.

"We will end Freedom of Movement to stop immigrants coming here and taking our benefits, jobs and using our NHS!" Reform voter: "If I knew they were taking MY Freedom of Movement then I would have voted Remain. When I eventually retire in Spain, I'll have to pay for my own healthcare."

Many fragile white Brits seem to be extremely blinkered about our colonial past. Those that complain endlessly about "criminals" coming here on boats forget about who we sent to Australia 😲

Ask a fragile straight man if he ever questioned his own gender or sexuality. The reply will always be "Certainly not!" Then ask them why they believe their children and grandchildren could easily be persuaded to do so 🤔

It's ionic that the man who was hellbent on cutting state aid for America's poorest citizens is now crying about Trump's bill cutting state aid to him.

These people are desperately trying to start a culture war rather than trying to fight one. They just haven't found an effective narrative yet, but that won't stop them throwing grenades.
