"American Jewry" sure is an... Interesting turn of phrase to use.

Every source on film censorship I found claimed THE KISS was the first movie censored, so I dug into old newspapers to find raging condemnation. Instead, I found effusive praise, accounts of audiences roaring with laughter and some complaints that film wasn't sexy enough to be called "THEE Kiss"

Went out and got rice + lentils + flour, and I've already had some stocked at home. I bought toilet paper recently so I don't have to worry there. Also, pet food for the next few months at least.

But I guess for however bad I thought it was going to get, I did not expect it to get this bad.

It makes sense. I guess I have been faced with both, in some sense. Both a constant threat of immiseration and suffering, and also having the possibility of escape dangled before me. I dropped out of the standard path a long time ago, and I lost faith in that ever being an option for me.

I just keep repeating to myself "it is what it is" these past weeks. Over and over again. It is what it is. This is the reality I have to live with now. It is what it is. I think that's the only way I can keep myself numb enough to keep going. It is what it is. Unfolding all around me.

There's nothing I can do other than stay alive at this point, and try and keep moving. I'm in a better position than a lot of people, I know that. But it's still difficult, to even imagine a future right now.

There's a profound sense of grief that comes with reckoning with the fact you are being denied a future. That your life, in the end, has no value in this world, and that nothing is going to save you. I guess I didn't expect anything to. But I think I hoped it wouldn't be this bad.

Everything can be falling apart and yet everything marches on like it isn't, until it all does at once.

We need to bring back whatever level of Posting this guy was on. Truly something that could only exist in 2004.

I say this only half-jokingly, because I do genuinely wish that more speculative fiction authors paid attention to these particular kinds of details, but I understand that doing so goes against the way both a lot of people's brains are wired, and the general way people approach writing SFF.

On the net, this is a good thing, as it means avoiding a lot of the pitfalls that fantasy worldbuilding often falls into, but in the micro it makes the process a whole more time consuming.

My next ads after this were to buy gold, and for something referred to as an "AI-powered home gym". And between those two I'm not sure which is a bigger scam.
