Join a book club or knitting circle. Take a meal to your neighbor.Go pick up trash in your neighborhood. Put your energy into the people directly around you and they will give it back to you. The only way out is through and all we have is each other.

Do you see a lot of grassroots organizing where you are? I lived in LA for all of about 1 year and the neighborhoods seemed pretty separated. Do you think movements between communities are coming together?

Agree, but that doesn’t necessarily lead to a different place right now. I followed my passion and am a Federal Scientist, and I’m probably about to be unemployed as well. No regrets though.

Yeah I feel like all the cavendish in the stores are imported. And apple bananas, while infinitely tastier, don’t export well. So we are still left not being able to “manufacture bananas” lol.
