Thanks for another #HorrorWritersChat, Matt. I turned 30 as of yesterday. If anyone wants to give me a belated birthday present, become a paying member of The #ShadowBoxArchives #Patreon linked below. My current WIP is a #HorrorFacts review of the movie www.patreon.com/ShadowboxArc...

I pants, and plan, and pants again. I'm a plantser. But yes, forever surprised.

Sure... or the things that might happen, or might be happening, or potential worlds where vegetal agency ripens. My thing is trying to avoid horror tropes, but it's not easy at all.

Just finished a short story redraft. Also feeling proud. Well done both of us. And all of us who stick with it despite the shit the world dumps at our door πŸ’πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆβœοΈ

Thank you Hiria. It's only a first draft, so the real work begins after a few days break. Maybe more. Maybe I'll write a short story in the interregnum.

Thanks. Only first draft so the real work starts tomorrow. Still, I'm all over the place just like confetti. And it's Eurovision--what a day!

Yup. Writing isn't always the literal act of typing words. It's important that ideas gestate, and that can mean a lot of distraction activities for me. Walking. Reading. Exercise. More reading. Anything that primes the mind-body mechanism to begin tapping something of value.

I love my job. I teach. But I get so resentful when we hit pressure points that squeeze out all my personal time and energy. You're right, it's impossible to avoid getting knocked off your WIP horse, but so hard to get back into stride.
