I was simultaneously looking at possible colleges and waiting to be drafted when it happened. It was my awakening.

I've visited over the years. Almost moved to the area back in the late 70's but was unable. The area held a singular fascination for me due to it's stark beauty. As I have aged, and become averse to the cold of the northeast I often think what if. Stay hydrated.

I only respond because I was once asked, "Aren't you afraid to go to New York City?" To which I replied, "I am more afraid of the werewolves in the suburbs."
The look was priceless.

"I cannot believe the fate of the colony is in the hands of a Carter."
"You have always underestimated this generation of Carters."
She gave Isaac a scathing look, then walked to the window.
"Maybe, but there is a contingency plan."
Isaac leaned forward. "Lenny, what did you do?"

I am genuinely happy for you and a bit envious. This was what I ordered for 70th (I shared it with my sister). Whipped cream frosting, a delicate white cake with raspberry mousse filling.
Oh, and happy birthday.

The best way to put me off a book, a TV show, or a movie is to introduce an evil twin.

It is illegal. Which means they will try.
The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law signed on June 18, 1878, by President Rutherford B. Hayes that limits the powers of the federal government in the use of federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States.

In case I've forgotten, thank you sharing the photos you take. While I like where I live, it is not quite as photogenic.

Everything is a distraction if you are only focused on one thing, which is why the authoritarian playbook specifies doing everything everywhere all at once. And not in the cute sausage-fingered way the movie did.

I am starting to collect them but not as drafts, but more as unconnected non-contextual scenes and partially formed ideas.
I went to an declining empty mall last week and now have a document titled "I slept through the Apocalypse."

OMG we'll have to call the Marines to stop this lawless chaos. 😆

There is an old joke that says you should never ask an old person how they are... Because they will tell you. 😄
Thank you for asking.

I'm an old dog learning new tricks, which I hope will keep my mind flexible now that I've retired. Book 1, I wrote knowing nothing. With book 2, I had some coaching, then rewrote both. Book 3 is in process and almost finished. I may never be published, I'd like to be, but that's not my end goal.

Thank you. It's my vision of one of the main characters from a series of books I am writing. The MC has heterochromia that he shares with his sentient alien cat.
I'm so tired and disgusted with this future that I've written a better one of my own.

I have a Kindle Fire and also use the Kindle app on my phone. It's an older Kindle model, but it still works well enough.
I have trouble reading paper books and magazines because a stroke left me with a minor Nystagmus, and I require double-spaced print. I really miss paper.

I was sixteen when I first saw him perform and got grounded for two months for riding my bicycle there. Then, years later, I saw him three times in NYC, the last time in Spanish Harlem.

I do not miss punch tape or bootstrap loaders. Not for one minute.

You are 100% correct. That is our/my money, not the government's. I've paid into it for 56 years, and now I need it. The notion of seniors returning to the workforce is laughable because people like him don't want to hire them. We cost too much.
You have no idea how much I am restraining myself.
