This is a good thread on a group of obvious scammers that are — somehow — insanely popular among people who (correctly!) regarded QAnon with contempt

Ladies and gentlemen...the Democratic Party! www.levernews.com/dems-crypto-...

The number of new/newly active accounts going on about “illegals” seems to have almost turned off like a tap in the last couple of days. Reminds me of the “only two genders” wave a while back. @conspirator0.bsky.social

First #CDC All-hands meeting since the start of the new administration updates staff on the status of director-nominee Susan Monarez's confirmation process, the restructuring of the agency & what to expect from next week's #ACIP meeting. (a shorter agenda) www.statnews.com/2025/06/17/c...

A recent royalty check reminded me that “The Chemistry Book” continues to sell, nine years after its debut. I’m happy to have it, but also happy that people are enjoying the book!

As NIH budget deliberations continue, prepare to hear Bhattacharya deflect substantial questions about the negative effects of his funding policies with “I’m an economist.” He’s not a very good one if he’s unable to assess the impact of funding decisions at the agency he directs.

“What is common knowledge in your field, but shocks outsiders?” Most drugs have several activities in the human body, and discovery of these effects goes on for years after they are on the market.

Your semi-regular reminder that @altnps.bsky.social is 100% pure LARPing BlueAnon grift that's unsourced theft of other reporting at best and active disinformation at worst and you should not give them a single bit of attention

New from me: Tax law should be based on neutral principles. But key language in the pending House bill is anything but. It's shamelessly gerrymandered to go after endowments disliked by MAGA's social conservatives and NatCons, while sparing others. /1

BREAKING: A federal judge in Massachusetts (the Reagan-appointed William Young) has declared the Trump administration's cuts to NIH grants — ostensibly over Trump's EOs on gender ideology and DEI — are "illegal" and "void." He's ordering many grants restored.

So if you take an active natural product and make its mirror-image enantiomer, that new compound is very unlikely to bind to the original target. But is it an inactive compound?

It's the benzentary. Benbizentary? Bizenetenary. Happy 200th birthday benzene!

This is the reason why our Constitution has an emoluments clause. And every day that the House GOP refuses to do any oversight of the Trump family's grift is another day that our Republic gets a little more fragile. Thread: www.ft.com/content/13a6...

spoken like a diehard White Sox fan

I know a lot of folks like this account. But this is a wild, and unhelpful, exaggeration--it's a resistance version of sean spicer. It veers into #resistanceporn and trades accuracy for clout, like other "blue maga" grifters on here. Pls consider finding other sources of inspiration/news/motivation

Not least because they imagine that you can always think of precisely the information that you need and perfectly structure a request for it.

Reviewing some coverage of the DC parade today, and you really, really have to wonder who decided to play “Fortunate Son” over the sound system. My wife reminds me that a lot of people never listen to lyrics, but *come on*. . .

Got the car ready

When the National Institutes of Health cut billions of dollars of research funding earlier this year, it jeopardized our wellbeing and scientific progress. We'll be in court Monday arguing that scientific research should be guided by evidence, not politics.

I just discovered this delightful homage to @dereklowe.bsky.social on Wikipedia (cc @depthsofwikipedia.bsky.social)

My latest @wsj.com review-delightful new book about the magic and wonder of computers (plus unusual awareness of the ineluctable messiness of biology). www.wsj.com/arts-culture... @dereklowe.bsky.social @nachristakis.bsky.social @scottgottliebmd.bsky.social @thgoetz.bsky.social @ihaque.bsky.social

This deep dive on the anti-vaccine researcher hired by Kennedy to dig into HHS/CDC data is realllly interesting. sciencebasedmedicine.org/the-long-med... By @kathleenseidel.bsky.social

A document circulated to members of Congress misinterprets studies and cites debunked research, scientists say. It could influence congressional perceptions of vaccine safety.

SCOOP: Independent US vaccine body is planned after RFK Jr’s mass firing of CDC advisory panel www.bmj.com/content/389/...

The media has two unhelpful approaches to RFK Jr.: treating him as a legitimate critic of government systems who has a viable plan for improving American health or falling in love with him over text messages.

We have people calling us frauds on a daily basis because they don’t like papers we’ve published. But none of us ever misrepresented data and or made errors we then refused to correct.

House Democrats need to bring articles of impeachment against Kristi Noem, while Senate Democrats need to bring that chamber to a fucking halt.

In the past week, a union leader has been arrested, a U.S. Rep charged with a crime, a U.S. Senator violently handcuffed, and reporters shot with rubber bullets and detained. There is no ambiguity. This is a regime operating as an authoritarian. Americans who believe in liberty must oppose it.

Anyone who wants it, here's a non-paywall link to my 2019 column on tear gas in Nature, the world's most prestigious scientific journal. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

So, I had some Pam cooking spray sitting on one counter and some spray mount sitting on another counter and friends, you will never GUESS what happened when I went to spray mount my sign for the Saturday march (and yes, at least it wasn't the other way around)

A little more on RFK's new vaccine committee: Malone - claimed vaccines cause AIDS Kulldorff - promoted mass COVID infection Meissner - opposed vaccines and masks for kids Pebsworth - worked at antivax nonprofit Levi - FL Surgeon General cited his paper when recommending not to get COVID vax

Martin Kulldorff - "one of the new vaccine advisers picked by U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has earned thousands of dollars as an expert witness in litigation against Merck’s Gardasil vaccine, court records show." www.yahoo.com/news/exclusi...

I've been seeing so many posts about stuff that supposedly neutralizes tear gas and pepper spray. For goodness sake, friends, if you aren't putting milk/liquid antacid/etc into your eyes when they are healthy, you certainly don't want them in your eyes when they're already irritated. JUST WATER.

Laid off workers were told their notices of an upcoming reduction in force were "revoked." Officials didn't explain why HHS appeared to be restoring hundreds of jobs it previously called duplicative.

Everyone I knew who covered disinformation got laid off, their bosses got bullied into firing them, or they changed their beats from actual Nazi harassment campaigns. It cannot be stressed the damage the paid-for Substack “free speech” guys did in the service of fascism and against real free speech.

Thread on RFK Jr.’s ACIP appointments. Yes, they’re awful.

My God, what an awful idea. I’m glad it’s been rolled back.
