I have some difficult news to share with you today. On Sunday, June 8 my mother, Delcia Davis, passed away at the age of 97.

It's been a bit over 48 hours since the Federal raid in South, and I'm still struck by the impact that such a large, armed presence has had on our community. Impact matters, especially given the fear that our immigrant communities are facing from this Federal administration.

I had a fantastic time kicking off Pride Month at our Together in Pride rally last night! Thank you so much to Queermunity for hosting us, and to Dr. Jia Starr Brown and Matt Swancutt with StonewallDFL for joining us at this celebration. It was great to see so many of you there – Happy Pride!

As someone who is often called to tend to people who are sick or in their last moments, I know all about the compassion, strength, and expertise of our Minneapolis nurses. I was so honored to get out to the picket lines with MNA to advocate for #SafeStaffingNow. Thanks for all your hard work!

See you tonight!

There was a federal raid today at Bloomington and Lake St. Details are still coming out but I met up with folks who were gathering and have been in contact with immigration advocates, faith leaders, and government officials. I’ll be working with them to support as we learn more.

It was great to see so many of you at our meet and greet yesterday! Thank you so much to Bichota Coffee for hosting us, and thank you to everyone who came. I enjoyed getting to know you all.

The Ward 6 Convention was buzzing when they gavelled in this afternoon – thanks to all the delegates, alternates, volunteers, and guests for letting me share my vision of for our city with you!

The folks in Wards 9, 10, and 11 gave up time on this gorgeous day to get some important work done at their Ward Conventions. I loved getting to see y'all at work, and it was so great to get to connect with so many of you.

🚨 Just 9 hours left — and we’re still $1,500 short of our end-of-month goal. This powers our June 4 Together in Pride event 🌈, grassroots canvassing 🚪, and our presence at the July convention. We’re 100% people-powered. No Corporate PACs. Just YOU. 👉 Donate: secure.actblue.com/donate/deway...

I had a great time at my friend Max’s Annual Witch Hat Tower party in Prospect Park – and I’m so grateful to get the opportunity to share about why I’m running and where I think our city can go with me as Mayor.

My faith is deeply important to me – it calls me to honor the dignity of every person through love and action. But I also believe in the importance of pluralism, and that we are stronger when we honor the experiences and values of everyone, whether they have a faith or spiritual practice or not.

I’m excited to announce that special guests CM Andrea Jenkins and Rev. Dr. Jia Starr Brown will be joining us at our Together in Pride event cohosted by StonewallDFL! I hope to see you there.

I am looking forward to my upcoming meet and greet at Bichota Coffee. I look forward to seeing you there and chatting about our hopes for Minneapolis!

Five years out from George Floyd’s murder, we still haven’t seen the robust public safety ecosystem our city deserves. And yet, it feels like we've lost some of the urgency for change that I felt in the weeks and month after, even as many of our communities still feel unsafe.

The Rise and Remember Street fest today was a reminder that we can experience joy even in the face of tragedy. The fight for justice continues but in this moment, we can live in the beauty of being in community together.

I was honored to participate in the Prayer and Praise interfaith program this morning at City Hall. It marked the commencement of what be a powerful weekend honoring the five year anniversary of the murder of George Floyd. I hope to see you at some of the events this weekend.

This Friday, we’re aiming to raise $1,500 to power our grassroots campaign! Every contribution helps us connect with voters, share DeWayne’s bold vision for Minneapolis, and build a city that works for everyone. Chip in now to help us hit our $1,500 goal: secure.actblue.com/donate/deway...

Pride Month is coming up and we're going to be kicking it off with joy, community, and purpose! I hope you'll join me for Together in Pride: A Pride Month Kick-Off Rally – we'll be celebrating our LGBTQIA2S+ neighbors and recommitting to making Minneapolis a safe place for all of us to thrive.

Despite the interruptions, it was powerful to be in space with community members at the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder event tonight to reflect on the 5 years since the murder of George Floyd and how to hold our city accountable for our public safety going forward

Stopped by the 19 tonight to celebrate our Stonewall DFL endorsement – I really have a great team!

I am going to be on the Clay Cane Show with @claycane.bsky.social this afternoon! We'll be talking about my campaign and what community safety could look like for our city. If you have SiriusXM radio or the app, tune into Urban View (Channel 126) around 1:30 pm CT to catch my interview.

Interested in chatting with me on this cold and rainy day? I've got a virtual meet and greet tonight so we can all connect but not have to go out in the rain. I hope you'll join me! RSVP here: mobilize.us/s/WfqyzR

I'm so proud to be endorsed by @stonewalldfl.bsky.social! This is so meaningful to me and I take this endorsement very seriously – our LGBTQIA+ communities are under threat right now, and we need to come together to make sure that Minneapolis is a safe place for us to thrive.

It was a beautiful day for a front porch meet and greet yesterday! I’m so thankful to Rebecca Voelkel, Fintan Moore, Scott Travis, Maggie Shannon George, and Tara VanLanen for hosting me and their neighbors for some great questions and conversation.

I am so thrilled to announce Andrew Virden has joined the campaign as my new Campaign Manager. Andrew brings decades of campaign experience, having worked on congressional and presidential campaigns and leading Minnesota’s successful census, which kept our 8th Congressional District.

I stopped by Art-a-Whirl yesterday and got to connect with Beverly Tipton Hammond, who is not only a visual artist but a singer, dancer, and performer as well. Today’s the last day, so make your way over to Northeast today to enjoy coming together to support amazing local artists!

I hope you’ll join me this evening!

We’re building a grassroots campaign for Minneapolis—with a goal of $7,000 in monthly donations to fund full-time staff & pay for campaign flyers and signs. Join the Neighbors for DeWayne Fund with $20, $50, or $100/mo. ✅ Click & check “Make it monthly”: secure.actblue.com/donate/neigh...

I’m sometimes asked how I can reconcile my faith and my sexuality – but for me, no reconciliation is necessary. I know I am beloved as an out gay Black man, and I know my fellow LGBTQI2S+ sibilings are too.

At a time when LGBTQIA2S+ communities, and especially our trans and non-binary communities, are under increased threat, it’s critically important for us to push back against discrimination and hatred in all its forms. 1/
