I will hopefully have more to share with you all soon, but for now, I ask for privacy and time to grieve with family and friends.

If you’ve supported or contributed to this campaign, thank you so much. Every day of this campaign, I have met so many people who share a more inclusive, hopeful vision for our city, and I am so honored that so many of those people have seen me as the leader to get us there.

In order to make space for grieving and ensure my family’s affairs are in order, I have decided to temporarily suspend my campaign operations. There may be a time for conversations about whether and how to continue, but now is not that time.

I have supported and ministered to many people who have lost loved ones, but nothing can prepare you for being at the center of that grief. My mother was a gift to the world, and I miss her dearly.

My mother was an educator and a leader – from working her way through college to become a teacher while pregnant with me to helping to start Head Start in the Mississippi Delta, she always showed up for her family and her community.

Our city has so many people willing to step up to advocate for and care for our neighbors in moments like these, and we deserve that kind of leadership in the Mayor’s office.

I’m incredibly proud to have seen city council members and community leaders there making sure people were safe and helping folks who were injured. My fellow candidates for mayor were also there helping out, all of them except for our current mayor.

That's why I'm so honored to be endorsed by the Freedom from Religion Foundation Action Fund – it's a reflection of my commitment to listening to and valuing the perspectives of everyone in our community, however they make meaning of the world.

Some of our leaders, our mayor included, want to point to change and call it progress. But I want to call on all of us to meet this moment with the action and urgency it requires. George Floyd deserved better – I know that with the determination and commitment to action, we can get there together.

I believe he’s exactly the right person to get this campaign over the finish line with a win.
To celebrate Andrew joining our team, we’re hoping to raise $2000 today. Will you make a contribution to help us keep our momentum going?
Welcome to the team, Andrew!

Today I’m standing with folks around the world to recognize International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. When our right to exist is challenged, it’s important for us to remember that we have always existed and always will. 2/
