I'm a elder crone. Sadly I remember classmates who had Polio and had to wear braces. Sanatoriums for TB, our neighbor was in one. And the big yellow quarantine sign on our front door when I had Rubella. Science gave us longer life expectancy. Not race,class,$,or religious practice.

Many states had laws which stated people who were 'Ugly' or had a deformity couldn't be seen in public up to 1970. These were abolished with the inception of the ADA. People with disabilities had no right to an education either.
