The whole FUCKING STADIUM SCREAMED THAT LINE

It's related to a podcast, it's nothing too serious. Unless you care about the ranking of Francis Ford Coppola movies in which case this is very serious indeed.

But the disagreement I had from the beginning is this notion that a 140k income household doesn't somehow put them in the upper class. It does, Seattle is just an upper class city. One of the 5 richest cities in household income in the US. So I understand 140k goes less far in Seattle but still.

Again, I am lower class and comes from a lower class background. When I was little our house was a 2 bedroom for a family of 5, which then got converted to a 3 bedroom when I started growing up and my sister was losing her mind 😅

But obviously Seattle certainly have some work to do. If they dont cater or offer options for lower income workers then they will be forced to move out and the whole backbone of the city will fall apart without those low wage workers.
Capitalist greed can never see the forest for the trees here

"According to newly released census data, around 75,000 Seattle households had incomes between $50,000 and $99,999 last year, which most Americans would consider middle class. But in Seattle, a far greater number — around 106,000 households — made $200,000 or more in 2023."

Actually, your average is equivalent to buying a $900K house. Filtering Under 900K, Houses or Townhomes only, 2 Bedrooms minimum .... there's 300 results.
That's 300 perfectly fine properties available below your average.

Hey let's go more expensive actually

$600K house which Zillow estimates at $3,630/month

$700K house. Still $1000/month below your average.

How about this one? $2,556 / month with a 30k downpayment (conservative with a 140k salary).

I recommend blocking that account to be honest, wildly racist and transphobic. Dont waste your time with facts, they're beyond help.

Welp that account's replies are full of anti-asian racism coupled with transphobic rants. Absolute piece of shit disguised as a progressive account. To the block pile.

Although I have to point out the irony of an account named "Blue State Enjoyer" trying to get me to feel sorry about the upper class and complaining about all the taxes they have to pay. Maybe change your profile pic for Trump because frankly I cant tell the difference between your rhetorics

Not a guy, I'm non binary. The fact is with such a salary taxes could take 80% of everything you make and still have a better quality of life that I have. I've been having panic attacks all day because I cant figure out how to afford my groceries for the next 2 weeks. Leave me alone now.

They're gonna be so mad when Emilia Perez gets in the collection then 😅
comment in response to

Oh it's worse than that, about half of Americans see her silence as allyship and support for their conspiracy beliefs. That's why she says nothing, it IS a cult, you can NOT go against the cult. To us it's a "gotcha", to them it's a test of subservience

I interacted with a lot of BAFTA voters through my work and they were all eating Emilia Perez up. But I also think it's a good movie, and I do think in the current UK environment having a trans woman nominated for best actress is extremely important.

Because unfortunately the American movie would win 99% of the time then. But yeah it's a bit weird that British cinema doesn't seem to be the main focus of the BAFTAs.

The Singing Hills cycle by Nghi Vo, it's a series of fantasy novellas centered around a non binary character collecting stories from different talking animals (and their various versions of a same story), it's inspired by Vietnamese folklore and it's beautiful

Yes we have those too. Doesn't change the fact we're talking about an upper class income and you're trying to tell someone living in poverty how that income is really not much actually and we shouldn't consider them rich. No. They're rich. They can buy a smaller house. I cant buy a garden shed.

Average taxes is 25% in the us, there isn't even a 40% tax bracket. I live in London where rent is on average 10% higher than Seattle and purchasing power 41% lower, yet my salary is equivalent to $33000. I'm sorry but I cant feel sorry for a $140000 salary household. They are upper class.
