My son tried to get through the chapter, and then said WTF. So yeah, I get Foucault is difficult
comment in response to post
But I humbly accept your comment on Foucault. A couple years ago I showed my 20+ year old kids a chapter I wrote that was published in an international political economy textbook. The focus was on disciplinary practices constructing the periphery in global politics. Foucault was central
comment in response to post
Yeah, Foucault is difficult to digest. But as a Ph.D candidate in the early 90s looking at the intersection of epistemology, politics and power in the IR sphere, Foucault, Derrida, Said + others were indispensable. Realism, liberalism, structuralism, etc., didn't cut it.

Quote from DOJ's real estate rep: San Quentin may be cheaper from a renovation perspective, but it really doesn't "show" as well as Alcatraz.

It's been a long day. I wish I had more to say than this 🤮

Hey, God! I finally watched Conclave, and wow, I was not anticipating that ending. Just want you to know I appreciate you giving your divine right to someone deserving and unexpected 💙

Dude's a nincompoop (I'm using my nice words). I couldn't come up with a good question, so I posed it to ChatGTP, and it didn't even recognize his name. Problem solved

Yeah, and let's see how they deal with a reconciliation bill that guts federal funding for Medicaid and cost-shifts to the states.

As a Catholic, the whole month of July should be blocked out as dedicated to The Precious Blood of our Lord, or at least 7/1. But also 7/4 for Thomas the Apostle, and I really need 7/31 to celebrate St. Ignatius Loyola

On this Easter weekend I'm holding out hope that the Catholics especially, but all other Justices, on SCOTUS will find it in their heart to respect and advance the due process and 1st adnendendment rights of all US residents

This is not "space tourism," but the real thing, courage, leadership, scientific discovery

Using a makeup analogy, a dirty q-tip and a bronzer brush when the bronzer sinks to the center...I'll be sorry for this post in the morning

As a bonus, it would be great if Trump wouldn't pardon the few who have been convicted. One could hope, but not holding my breath.

I'm sorry for you. We are losing a generation + of public health professionals. Please don't give up. There are a lot of us who are fighting for you and your public health colleagues.🩵

This is so sad. We received a stop order today for a federal grant that was funneled through our state health department. The focus was improving health outcomes. The sin was using data to address health equity, which floats all boats. They don't understand or don't care.

to value freedom and democracy. I'm proud that Mark Kelly is my senior senator 💙!

Captmarkkelly.bsky.social is one of the most admirable people I have ever met, especially in AZ politics. It's hard to find a comparison these days. He's shown tremendous leadership during these dark weeks. I was taught not to be vulgar, but Musk is an asshole! He knows nothing about what it means

As my grandmother would say...crimany. They aren't throwing out the bathwater; they are throwing out the babies.

Gilligan the cat who followed my kids to school. I can't count the times we had to pick him up from the principals office. And Lucy her loved her chew toys.

As an AZ native and someone educated by Jesuits for 16 years I'm thrilled to see my state Uni's and all the Jesuit law schools represented. Yay, LMU!

Just want to say, I've been meaning to subscribe to The Atlantic for the past year+, but after lots of gift articles, today got me to actually do it . Surprise, the portal was frozen. I don't think I was the only "resister" today signing up today to support democracy.

But the big differential is "&" or "and" with CMS. And, please let us not go back to HCFA

Gosh, maybe that's a benefit of having these discussions in a SCIF.

IDK, I'd like to think there is enough bipartisan interest to hold a (closed) congressional hearing to get to the truth, including inviting Jeffrey Goldberg to testify.
