In VA they literally set up sensors by the side of the road to check your exhaust and you can pay to get the results and submit directly with your registration.

Of course you're right on a deeper theoretical level; what I'm trying to say is that people think issues like voter ID are purely partisan self-dealing, when the truth is policy positions are often deeper seated and less short-sighted than that.

This is always an eye-opener when I discuss election policy with students; for example, you're Republican because you support voter ID (or Democratic because you oppose it) - not the other way around.

My company strongly suggested people include language in their email signatures acknowledging that employees have different work hours and encouraging recipients to reply within their own preferred working hours.

I never understood that - he's always clearly been awful at communication and relationships. Don't know if he's the worst manager ever to win a World Series but he has to be in the conversation.
