Renaming a commissioned ship is bad juju, even more than going to sea on a Friday.

Heheh

just had a survey request from nvidia, oooh boy was it AI centred, 17 questions and i only got 5 done rejecting anything AI when it popped up, your survey has finished. seems they want people to support their AI system and if you dont like it they dont want to know your input.

Zero killer.

It’s official. I’ve defeated one of the toughest IRL bosses of them all. I beat cancer. Fuck cancer. 💪🔥 #CancerSurvivor #FuckCancer

Orca (1977). I saw this admitted ripoff of Jaws and Monty Dick when I was six years old. I still remember the music (by Ennio Morricone) and it inspired a lifelong love of marine life. I can still tell the sex of a killer whale with a glance. Not bad for a B grade ripoff.

True! 😺😸😹

oh no

In a timeline as bleak as ours, the Orcas have been a shining light.

#OTD in 1942, the Japanese destroyer Yamakaze was torpedoed and sunk by USS Nautilus (SS-168) about 60 nautical miles from the coast of Japan. Yamakaze had sunk USS Shark (SS-174) a few months earlier. This photo was taken through the periscope of the Nautilus.

The joke only works if you know Sean Bean’s accent.

“I am glad you are here with me. Here at the end of all things, Sam.”

Honor those who have gone before you, and who fought their battles so you could fight yours. Live honorably so that you may one day be remembered well by those who come after you. The past is part of us, and we will become part of that past, and it is glorious.

Shadows and highlights of contrails at sunset. I thought it was cool.

#OTD in 1943, Rep. Andrew May bragged to reporters that the Japanese were setting depth charges too shallow because they didn't know how deep U.S. subs could dive. VADM Charles Lockwood said the revelation caused the Japanese to adjust, costing the Navy 10 subs and 800 sailors.

On this day in 1814 the USS Independence, the first ship of the line of the US Navy is launched at the Charleston Navy Yard, Massachusetts. Authorized as a 74 gun ship, she carries 90. She joins USS Constitution in defending Boston harbor against the British blockade.

In the midst of the word he was trying to say, In the midst of his laughter and glee, He had softly and suddenly vanished away— For the sub WAS a boomer, you see.

I DID NOT ASK FOR UPSIES.
