Realized I neglected to post the cherries on top of my Toronto Games Week last week: • Getting this gorgeous poster signed by @caitrustle.bsky.social (thanks @jimmunroe.net!) • Getting a tarot reading (and a gorgeous video game themed deck) from @droqen.bsky.social #TGW25

Our statement in response to the Supreme Court ruling in Mahmoud v Taylor. Image thread with alt text. 1/4

This is a good article, BUT I'm hesitant to agree about the "future is shit" view - I think the Switch 2 selling well is of a piece with "retro gaming keeps growing" and "Live gaming services keep failing". Big money WANTS a future of shit, in this as everywhere; that doesn't assure it'll happen.

Finished detail-modelling, rigging, and texturing the "New Head" for the tank we started on stream, but I'm running into a frustratingly-high incidence of baking and exporting issues from Blender to Unreal today 😭 #ScreenShotSaturday

So, @caitlinst.bsky.social recorded this video in a single take.. I love it as a ‘just passing through the world’ video. @danlesac.bandcamp.com’s music is fine too I guess youtu.be/nSR3XFE4CGk?...

I am going to submit a Tool Design workshop to Godotfest 2025. If you are using Godot, and want to know how to improve the design & UX of tools & workflows, what would you like to learn about the most? What are the biggest (nontech) questions you have when creating workflows?

The thing is, we’ve seen Israel doing stuff like this during the entire war, this isn’t even anything new, they are just continuing to do it with total impunity, and with the help of The NY Times and the ADL they are branding anyone who tells them to stop as antisemitic.

One AI fallout I didn't expect is that now every single boxed product has an AI-generated marketing-bullshit buzzword-laden paragraph describing absolutely nothing on the box. Look, I don't care how innovative your socks are and I'm not reading all that. I already bought the thing, leave me alone.

I've had a few chats with Palestinian men who told me they're minded to head for the aid distribution points. And yes, they know they are death traps. But it's got to the point they'd prefer a high risk of a relatively fast death than watching their families starve slowly. It's just unconscionable.

One of the few tiny upsides of the LLM craze is that we get to see corporations embarrass themselves in ways that would have been genuinely, truly impossible before

Jesus, fuck I’ve literally been waiting for an elected official to fearlessly say this shit my entire goddamn life

Mahmood Mamdani, father of Zohran Mamdani, on "beneficiaries" of violence and their omission from discussions of human rights and crises like South Africa, Sudan, Palestine, etc.

I genuinely want a law that caps the highest total comp at a company to a (double digit, max) multiplier of the lowest total comp at that company.

NEW: EA CEO Andrew Wilson was paid $30.5 million in cash and stock this past year, up about $5m from a year ago Since the U.S. requires companies to compare CEO pay to employee pay, I made an EA pay chart To make it work, I had to make it VERY TALL Take a look: www.gamefile.news/p/ea-ceo-and...

When we tell our international friends "Do not come to the United States, it is not safe here and I cannot protect you" this is the kind of shit we're worried about.

The United Videogame Workers union is part of the greater Communications Workers of America union. 30-odd years ago, they put forth their Worker Bill of Rights: cwa-union.org/news/entry/c... Now, we want #Gamedevs to come together for our Game Worker Bill of Rights. Please COMMENT on their post!

New piece by me! I wrote about how freaky measles is, which many people don't know about. It depletes immune cells, and makes people vulnerable to many other infectious diseases. This raises the risk of complications for years after an infection.

Good thread about which ideas the legacy media treats as radical.

Important op-ed from @ryanenos.bsky.social and @stevelevitsky.bsky.social "Allowing the government to use extortionary threats to shape the teaching, research, and admissions policies of institutions of higher education is the stuff of autocracies." www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

Unity AI showcase on the official unity's channel "It shouldn't give you copyrighted materials" "There are some guardrails" "hey look I made mickey mouse" "i tried to generate pokemons lol" "but you should not put this in your game haha"

i realized a good warm-up into coding this project is to just add minor details to the procedural generators. i just set it up so theres a % chance that the stepping stone paths will include a lily pad, and also sprinkled some rocks and stuff in the water. #gamedev #pixelart

Can we just tax these people more? Not in order to pay for things we like, but somebody that has 250k of fuck you money to throw at someone he potentially may want to buy access to has too much power.

the first tech reporter to learn how to ask "and have you built any of that yet?" will change journalism forever

I had a REALLY lovely time talking to @milesklee.bsky.social at Rolling Stone about why The Onion is thriving. It's because we're one of the only legacy outlets unafraid to accurately reflect the mood of this country. That mood? Everyone fucking hates this. www.rollingstone.com/culture/cult...

The trucks Israel is letting into Gaza had already been sitting in the sun for months when they finally reluctantly rolled some of them in. (Why was Israel allowed to dictate whether or not Palestinians get food is not a mystery: it's still racism)

if you're a user of the Unreal Engine, you may benefit from my collection of Scoops unrealscoops.com - bits of valuable info that are hard to obtain

just learned about biplanar UV projection!! the tyranny of triplanar shaders is finally over! can't wait to go bi iquilezles.org/articles/bip...

If you choose to get this bundle in the waning moments (which you should), make sure your donation makes the total end in .69. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

idk i'm not a poet #art

“companies find ways to push workers to the maximum limit they can get away with. If your employer isn't giving you an easier time now, with all the benefits of email, word processors, spreadsheets and spellcheckers, why would they change their mind tomorrow?”

I think AI is going to eventually tank in the longterm, but... the only real way to combat this is single-interest communities. Forums, user comms, etc, with a barrier to entry. They become trustable knowledgebases. It's really the only way forward is to return to what worked best the first time

As we celebrate the NYC mayoral result, remember the system that got us here. Ranked choice voting works: it creates coalition building/collaboration across parties and limits super far right shit because they don’t get enough support from the other parties. Implement this in other cities already.

The best thing about being a solo #gamedev is that when you are fed up with one kind of task, there are plenty of others that help you relax and still make progress. I got frustrated with codeing so I listened to podcasts and painted icons for a puzzle. ☺️✨️💪

Oh my god, is this an article about adventure games that acknowledges they're alive and well and have been this whole time?! Also great, great, great, great bundle. Like one of the best ever.

Feels like ranked choice was absolutely decisive in this race—not because of the vote count, but because of how it changed the incentives from zero-sum to cooperapetitive. It allowed a fractured left field to align organically through co-endorsements instead of falling into a circular firing squad.

Fyi I switched over to Deezer a few months back and it's: 🇫🇷 French owned 🎵 has a tool that imports all your Spotify liked songs and playlists (and does it in approx five mins) 💵 pays artists 2-3x better Would recommend! Haven't had an issue with much music being missing at all.

I've been banging this drum for years now, I know, but Zohran's Big Night is a clear illustration of the power of giving people a vision of the future that boldly contradicts the rhetoric of Republican fearmongers. Not just "disagrees on policies," but actively paints a different image of the world.

Cyber flail. Fight turn based battles using real accelerometer motion. Coming in 1999. #indiedev

“[Use of LLMs] perpetuates inaccuracies not only about communities but also about what ‘correct’ English is. So the stakes aren’t just about preserving linguistic diversity — they’re about protecting the imperfections that actually build trust.” www.theverge.com/openai/68674...

In a few days, it will have been twenty-five years since Deus Ex was first released.
