Was running to get away from it all and loving it but sprained my ankle badly in Monday so maybe no running for up to 3 months. Was wondering what to fill the gap with and clearly, according to this thread, the answer is Murderbot. bsky.app/profile/docd...

Or even better: ban him for 3 weeks from parliament?

It drives me wild when people say “lockdowns didn’t work, just look at the United States”. The US is an example of not doing lockdowns, as are most places. You really have to dive down deep into what countries called “lockdown”.

Do they even try to explain the New Zealand approach/stats? Proper lockdown, early elimination twice, vaccination prior to widespread community transmission (which did happen). Aggressive test and trace (so statistics more likely to be valid). Excess mortality tells the story that other stats hide.

As someone said in 2020, when the Swedes were told they had to keep a 2m personal distance, they were like “What?!, you can’t make me stand that close to someone!”

Nevertheless, bullets were dodged at our place. Literal millimetres to spare.

The biggest wind shake I’ve had living here though it only lasted a few minutes at that peak. Usually lasts longer. Thank goodness it didn’t or roofs may have been lost.

That’s a 171km/hr wind gust for those of us landlubbers and it might just be a record for this neck of the woods. Cc: @paullecomtephoto.nz

Duke of Wellington is expensive but good for English beers on tap. For NZ beers Ombrellos has a great range. Or if you don’t mind sticking to one brand, Emerson’s do have a great range.

Primary care is not "flashy" or "cool" medicine.
It's methodical and intricate and subtle.
We play the long game. We save lives by PREVENTING disease, so there's nothing to "show", and the gains are realized over times far longer than 3-year election cycles.
