I started when you did! I have not seen measles, but one of the saddest things I ever saw was a case of subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). Ten years after a healthy young boy had had measles, he developed a SSPE, a neurodegenerative disease that led to his death.

In addition to patients possibly eschewing effective treatments to take ineffective ones, there are also literal COSTS…either to consumers or insurers when ineffective drugs are prescribed.
