In Manhattan, ICE officers were forced to flee inside 26 Federal Plaza

Healthcare for seniors is *not* waste, fraud, or abuse. Food for hungry kids is *not* waste, fraud, or abuse. A $45 military parade for a draft dodging felon *is* waste, fraud, and abuse. Paying the National Guard to attack US citizens *is* waste, fraud, and abuse.

We were warned. People chose to ignore it. Now this is our reality.

Booker: "We have a president who did nothing as people stormed our Capitol, & then when those people who viciously beat police & led to some of their deaths - therefore cop killers - were convicted, he pardoned them. So for him to be talking about responsive law enforcement is hypocritical at best"

It was deliberate and planned, most likely under the supervision of Stephen "Fourth Reich" Miller.

Suppressing dissent, by any means necessary. That's the "my way or the highway" modern GOP.

Deploying the military on U.S. soil as law enforcement against Americans was on page 555 of Project 2025. So don’t say “I didn’t vote for this,” because you did. This isn’t a response. This was always their plan.

Great book, if you can find it.

It was great. Catch the stream any time on [HBO] Max.

If you missed it live on CNN, it's available to stream on [HBO] Max. Well worth your time.

. Just enjoyed CNN's broadcast of a live stage play, starring George Clooney. "Good Night and Good Luck" is a historical drama illustrating the 1950's conflict between CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow and Senator Joe McCarthy. Brilliantly illustrates government over-reach both then and now.

"Challenge people with more power than you. Defend people with less power than you." — George Clooney in an interview with Anderson Cooper about his play 'Good Night and Good Luck' and the legacy of legendary journalist Edward R Murrow

Palantir is coming to Britain. Starmer is already in talks. This is very bad.

“Tasted a little tear gas— tasted like fascism”

Here's the Washington Examiner piece that first quoted Stephen Miller ordering ICE to invade Home Deport a few weeks ago. This makes it clear that Miller himself ordered the escalation that has led to conflict in LA. www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/white-h...

Here’s the “Presidential Memorandum”: www.whitehouse.gov/presidential... There’s no Insurrection Act invocation; Trump is federalizing 2000 CA Nat’l Guard personnel only to “protect federal functions.” *Without* invoking the Insurrection Act, anything more would violate the Posse Comitatus Act.

Good.

ICE forced to barricade themselves inside the federal building in Los Angeles until LAPD could intervene and rescue them from the brave crowds standing up to the regime.

Not sure the fed gov can even legally do that. Why are you immediately assuming they can? Have you even looked into it, or are you pulling a Paul, Weiss and just rolling over for Trump?

This!!

1/ If accurate, this is almost certainly a conflict with the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits the use of the military for domestic law enforcement, including the National Guard if they are federalized.

Exactly this. They're banking on us backing down and not pushing back against what they're doing. The problem is simple: We're not gonna back down. We're gonna keep pushing back until we get through this because we're stronger than they are. They're gambling it all on this and they will lose.

Hey everyone, you want to know a fun factoid? Almost all of the federal agents currently in LA aren’t local, which means they’re staying at a hotel somewhere. Hotels have fire alarms. Wanna know another fun fact? If protests start popping off in other states, they can’t be everywhere at once.

This has all the validity and relevance of a strongly worded letter to the editor.

If you want to show solidarity with Los Angeles, the best thing to do is organize protests against ICE tonight/tomorrow in your own cities. Search the web for ICE rapid response networks in your own city / state and sign up. Help your neighbors.

Paramount, CA is putting out a call for environmental engineers to collect and preserve air, soil, and water samples from the tear-gassed areas for examination and documentation.

The protesters, in Paramount today, were able to stop ICE from taking people at HomeDepot. They were pelted wiyh rocks as they fled.

interesting to note that 400 protesters have monopolized all of LASD’s enforcement power because they tried to help ICE arrest half a dozen guys working at a Home Depot if you’re scoring on efficiency, the protesters are winning

Reminder that our Constitution guarantees due process to ALL persons — not just citizens — and enshrines habeas corpus as a fundamental right. Either everyone has due process — or no one does.

Me, a squishy New Deal liberal, watching this shit

i don’t know what to say about the images coming out of LA right now. but in case you need it, here’s a reminder that out in the streets, only water goes in your eyes. flush with water. take your clothes off when you get home & take a cool shower, wash yourself with dish soap a few times. godspeed.

ICE isn’t rounding up migrants at Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ meatpacking plants. They're provoking riots in Los Angeles. I wonder, is this provocation laying the groundwork for a pretext to declare martial law? And then I remember all those many tanks shipped to DC, the home of so many protests.

Oh, Canada.

It was never a slogan. It was an actionable demand. And the people who complained simply did not want to defund policing. It's simple.

At the ICE raid and subsequent community resistance in Paramount, California this morning, this skater kid ate dozens of munitions from Border Patrol agents, walked away slowly and flipped them off.

We really don’t know what’s going to happen next. All the armchair gaming out feels less worth our time than focusing on what suffering ICE and cops are inflicting right now, in front of all of us, and all the things people are doing to protect and defend one another.
