pretty much the exact opposite of declaration of unity

This ends in violence. Possibly years of it

Not only Facebook. The internet is just a fucking bore these days

Billionaires are probably snapping up discounted stocks. Corporations are buying back their own stock at discounted rates. And then Trump will cancel the tariffs and everything will inflate again. Market manipulation on a global scale.

I'm limiting my exposure to Trumpist friends at this point and they're under no illusions why. It's up to them to decide if that means anything to them or not. I think many of us were hoping this was a phase our Trumpy friends were going through. It isn't. This is who they are.

I have two friends in NYC that were directly ripped off by Trump. MAGA thinks NYC hates Trump because we're a bunch of libtards but it's mostly because we know him best.

sometimes when you see people that are huge celebrities in other countries you think "Really? Him/Her?" and you just don't get it. Historians will marvel that this orange-painted buffoon was somehow able to turn the world on its head.

I've never seen anyone less comfortable in their own skin. Every video of him is maximum cringe

Honestly would love to see her thrown in with them Ramsay Bolton-style

exactly right. If a reporter had been able to sneak into the chat that's an indictment of their carelessness for using Signal, not a defense.

even scarier: barely more than two months

This isn't the defense Waltz thinks it is. If a journalist could somehow slip into a private Signal chat (he didn't) it only highlights their failure to use secure DOD communications instead of a public app.

They should let them land but not meet the plane with any diplomatic presence whatsoever. Don't even acknowledge they're in the country. treat them like tourists.

Very anxious to head up to Canada this summer and support every Canadian brand I can. I don't expect to be welcomed with open arms but I'll take my lumps for the cause if I must.

They've already gotten it from Tulsi

Also I would imagine where geography is concerned "size matters". The smaller your country is the better your launch detection needs to be of a possible pre-emptive strike from your adversaries. Seems like a significant challenge

As Jon Stewart said...if there was an outbreak of chocolatey goodness in Hershey, Pennsylvania we wouldn't wonder where it came from

it can't have escaped Trump's notice that Musk wears a black MAGA hat instead of red. I don't think that's an accident. He's showing that he's not a subordinate to Trump and that will wear thin

a three !!! thank you since the Russians are being addressed. Quite a different tone than he takes when solely addressing the Ukrainians

The approval ratings for Trump and the Republicans in general are plummeting. I believe the best approach for now is to sit back and let them own their mess. Displays like Green made, while perfectly understandable, only give MAGA a target for their anger other than the Republicans. Let's wait

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that the post WW2 international order officially ended today. Our allies will not trust us again for a very long time. Nor should they.

you forgot a pardon for the biggest online drug dealer. Hmm I thought he said they deserve the death penalty.

I love the idea of having town halls with an empty chair to represent the absentee representatives and just voicing our displeasures

Makes it even more reprehensible that Sullivan and Cromwell is representing Trump.

It would be impossible to list all of Musk's conflicts of interest but having the owner of SpaceX "address problems" for one of his competitors would seem to be high on the list.

Completely agree. I would love it if the Canadian national anthem receives a huge ovation in Boston. We can't follow President Shitbag down this path of idiotic nationalistic chest-thumping. The Canadians are our oldest and staunchest allies.

I mean if they think California is Blue wait until they get a load of the Canadians

There's no reason to be optimistic about anything concerning the United States right now. Most SciFi films envision a future where powerful corporations have taken the place of nation states and this feels like the opening stages of that change

I mean we may just as well have remained a colony if we wanted an authoritarian government 😅

I'm not sure this is true. Trump won the election with (slightly) less than 50% of the vote and unfortunately far too many people just didn't vote. His core supporters (about 30% of voters) will mindlessly support everything he does but the majority of Americans will not.
comment in response to post
Plenty of Americans like myself would not want Canada to become a state either because it's such a lovely country and a welcome respite from the relentless insanity of American life when I'm able to visit. I truly love it.

It's not an accident that all of Elon's henchmen are so young. Eager to please and probably completely unaware of their legal peril

How much of the tariff nonsense is just a smokescreen for what Musk and his team have been up to this weekend? The press always chases whichever shiny object Trump throws for them

I was mostly being facetious but thanks for this information. Very interesting.
