It doesn't run too often, but occasionally my hype train serves up something real good!

And then I had a novella from @andrewlivecchi.bsky.social called Son of the Thunder Goddess. I really liked how the dual narrative worked here, giving us both the present-day story, and the background on how the characters got to that point. This is a fantasy that's well worth checking out.

I also finished The Death of Dulgath, by Michael J Sullivan. A couple of unexpected elements dropped in as part of the twist in the tail, but I just love that you know what you're getting from these books. Royce and Hadrian are definitely comfort characters for me.

I'm finding that so far. Slight Ender's Game vibes, though I've only seen the movie, and am only 10% ish through Ninefox Gambit.

Hah, well that's just typical of third party platforms, isn't it?! I was heading out when I got the reminder to share this, so I went a few minutes early. Should have waited after all!

The photos don't do the design justice, they are done to mimic embroidery, and I think it works really well (especially on Talonsister).

You have those good-looking Earthburst books waiting on your shelf, or at least the first one...

Both are acceptable, and it's not a case of UK vs US English, so far as I can tell. The single 's' is more common in both UK and US though. And yeah, author preference definitely comes into it for something like this, as long as it's consistent, all is good.

Since I've read them all, it was just never a priority, but every now and then I'd look to check availability and prices.
