It was also one of the keys to 'planned obsolescence'.

According to the European Commission's Joint Research Centre Report, Ireland's dairy sector is the most carbon efficient in Europe. Irish milk emissions are 1kg per kg of product, compared to the EU average of 1.4 kg per kg.

I don't know. We export 90% of our beef and that looks very unbalanced. But we are the 'cleanest' producer per kilo of beef by a long shot. So, if Europe eats say 100 cattle per week and Ireland produces 60 of these, then surely if we reduce prod' then Denmark makes more and the EU emissions go up?

We’re not the Judean People’s Front, we’re the People’s Front of Judea. Bloody splitters.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Kanopy can’t find any library in Cork. I’ll drop them a line. Thanks for replying.

I tried to sign up to Kanopy but my library (Kinsale) is not recognised. I could be doing something dopey - did you have any problems?

My garden centre suggested a strong polytunnel tape. That was €18 a roll. This roll on the other hand cost €3. Couldn’t see any real difference.

My supplier said wind getting in was the problem. I taped down the glass panes except for two. Both of these two broke. I will definitely do that next time.

To be fair there were no shortage of warnings. Also there is a cultural undertone of ‘telling it like it is’ 😁

Can someone tell me why people follow Carlow Weather so much? I’m sure he is great but, y’know, we have a national Met service. Are his forecasts better?

Ooooh, is 120 l/m² a new nomenclature?
So, if you had a square tank of 1m² and you poured a litre in the water would be 1mm. Right? So 120L would give 120mm high. And over 12 hours that would be 10mm an hour. So less than half an inch of rain per hour? Am I right?
Sounds like home to me!!

Jaysus lads, in the past 10 minutes you have posted two articles, one by Michael Moynihan bemoaning the lowering of dress standards and then this article telling us how to wear sneakers to work. Have you handed over the journalism to the Transition Year students?

In this country (Ireland) it has little to do with cost. Both parents work and coming home to a husband that is irritating her and three hungry kids she can cook a chickpea curry in an hour and look at long faces or a frozen pizza in 5 minutes with happy faces. Cost is way down the list for cooking.

I've heard Ronán Collins a number of times on the radio and he comes across as an absolute rock of sense. Nothing at all like the other Rónán.

It does seem to have been one of the most unnecessary posts of all time. But of course he has calculated exactly who he is talking to and feels the post will align him correctly.
