your entire job is redirecting people who earn 300k to places you visited for the weekend so they can be gentrified
comment in response to post
why are you trying to gentrify us, Mr "waow I love Aoteroa's *land acknowledgements!*" -ass Seattleite?
comment in response to post
It's insane to me that the same people who will scream about the mainstream media being horribly biased, also take their word on what the candidates are saying. It's the only explanation I can find for the repeated insistance that Harris was against the progressive things she said she supported!

Cool story

Yeah, that will make them go nuts *at best* and cause them permanent issues or death at worst

Also cops can and will shoot your dog, and, to put it frankly - "less lethal" riot munitions are designed not to kill people, not to spare the life of your pup, so get a dog sitter or leave it at home with your kids.

I don't think that replacing a war between an entrenched guerrilla militant group and a powerful western military with a war between two nuclear capable states, one of which believes that defeat would mean a second holocaust, is a good idea.
comment in response to post
Okay but no country on earth with the capability of invading, and occupying Israel for the sole purpose of creating a single peaceful state, wants to do that. That's not to mention that the act of taking over Israel would itself just be a violent war that would kill tens of thousands...
comment in response to post
My point is that regardless of what *morally* should be done, there is a contrast with what *practically* can be done. I'd love for everyone to live in one state and sing kumbaya, but the actual results of just suddenly enacting a one state solution with no safeguards would be a civil war a la 1948.

the only problem with this is that Palestinians, when polled, do not want to live in one equal state with Jews. That's not something the Israelis want either, because they (understandably) aren't too keen on the idea of being an ethnic minority in a country where most people want to expel them

UPMC have complied with all of Trump's toothless EOs and cut off a ton of Trans patients
comment in response to post
tell that to UPMC in Pittsburgh...
comment in response to post
so you're towing the trump line on stopping Iran from reaching Nuclear capability? You think a bit of paper will stop them when the last bit of paper didn't?

Oh, I'd take Mamdani over Adams in a fucking heartbeat.

Like, I think at this point he's the lesser of two evils, but I still think he's a PR nightmare and the optics blunders he's made on the campaign trail would be unacceptable as mayor, but again - you can pull up quotes of him saying sus shit, you don't need to invent problematic shit to get mad at!
comment in response to post
Yeah, I don't like the guy, but this isn't even a "bad take" or a bad faith interpretation, it's just a fucking bold faced lie about what he's saying. He's very clearly saying that disagreeing with him on Israel is natural and fine and that you don't need to agree with him on everything!
comment in response to post
To be clear - I *very much* do not agree with him on everything he's said, and there's definitely a lot to criticize there, but he's pretty transparently saying he still wants to reach people who would disagree with him on his views of the Israeli government.
comment in response to post
That's just not what he said. He said "if you agree with me on 11 out of 12 issues, vote for me, if you agree with me 12 out of 12, see a paychiatrist" as a quote.

And Israel are bombing Iran to prevent them from using Nuclear weapons, but a side effect is that they're kneecapping a regime that uhhhh... *sucks*
comment in response to post
Like, Trump recently had to be corrected by Merz when he said that D-day was a "bad day" for Germany, and Merz, offended, looked at him and said "no, we were freed from an evil dictatorship"
comment in response to post
We literally bombed nazi Germany and invaded it to free the people from the regime there. Not that this is the same, but pretending like striking the military of a nation cannot ever mean liberation of their people is just a moot point.

BASED???
comment in response to post
Yeah, that's a troll
comment in response to post
but it's an obvious troll because the file photo is russian troops marching through red square
comment in response to post
also the backdrop for this is literally a photo of a russian military parade in the *literal* red square, so I'd wager this is more likely than not a complete troll

Malcolm Kenyatta was on the board and will win his election back onto the board once he's not on a joint ballot with Hogg.

these fuckers are always 1 step away from posting the happy merchant lol

go back to england, criminal /j
comment in response to post
This isn't true just so you know
comment in response to post
And the reason he's been booted is because they also have a rule against joint ballots, and he was elected on a joint ballot with a much more popular candidate (Malcolm Kenyatta) and he has also been asked to re-run to earn his place back.

There's a rule on their books that requires certain ratio of gender, and they had too many women right now

(The single issue is gun control btw. He wants to expend all political will the dems have ever had legislating guns at the federal level when lone wolf attacks have dropped off a cliff statistically speaking, and most gun deaths are caused by issues that legislating features of a rifle will not fix)
comment in response to post
Mr "I'm going to take a very divisive and unpopular talking point and make it the single issue of the democratic establishment for the next decade until we make constitutional changes we dont have the votes for and never will" is lookin real fuckin quiet right about now...
comment in response to post
*and yes, those pointless arguments often involve people who have a major blind spot for antisemitism, but if I know they won't listen to me, then there's less than no point. It'll only serve to alienate anyone with my perspective from talking to them.
comment in response to post
But that being said, if it's just someone being a total ass and they'll listen to you and take what you say on board, *and you have the bandwidth* then go for it! You're never *obligated* to intervene, but if you feel that way and the stars are aligning, then absolutely you should.

I've found that a lot of the time, I have to go through this little check of "will this actually make this person change, or will it just burn the bridge between us". Being Jewish in a lot of lefty circles, I've been saved by this check because I'd rather not burn myself out on pointless arguments
comment in response to post
"Protests" also sure are a way to phrase "violent lynch mob angry about Romanians" but whatever, it's not like that somewhat polished rag cares about accuracy...

Do you have a duty to take matters into your own hand?

I'm actually looking at upgrading my pretty decent setup currently, so if you don't mind sizing down to a cute ITX motherboard setup, you can have my old stuff on the cheap/for shipping

like, the DC shooter, the dude who firebombed the PA governor's residence, the assholes in Pittsburgh who were planning a bombing on the jewish community in Squirrel Hill (which is itself the site of the tree of life synagogue shooting)? All citizens born right here in the land of the free.
