Lastly, dropping this here because this sums it up far better than I can:

I have my own butt hurt feelings on epinephrine and the "EpiPen" brand as is. But my point is that these sorts of life saving drugs should be cheap if not free. Narcan being this affordable is just a step closer to affordable life saving medicine. Epinephrine being so expensive is a step back.

Instead of complaining about an unjust comparison between to vastly different drugs, how about be angry that epinephrine is 700-900 dollars for ONE pen and that it "expired" after a year. Be mad that an epi pen costs that much because at least Narcan can easily save lives for cheap.

My own brother who struggled from hard drug use has had his life saved multiple times over with Narcan. While I just monitor my diet, in my personal opinion I'm frankly glad that a life saving drug is readily available and affordable.

Epinephrine is about 700 though which is, in my opinion, some fucking bullshit. But you can't go comparing Narcan and epinephrine like they're similar. It's apples and oranges. I've never had the opportunity to buy an EpiPen but thankfully I was able to get Narcan.

About 2 doses of narcan is roughly 50 bucks on average. Which is not a whole lot in comparison to epinephrine. But I've seen Narcan used to save my brothers life, who overdosed on heroin. I have a life threatening allergy to nuts and only had one scare in my adulthood.

I'm not a doctor or an insurance expert so this is all banking off of my experience with these pharmaceuticals. Narcan is not always free, it is significantly cheaper than epinephrine but the only time I've seen it "free" is it insurance companies cover the cost with a 0 dollar copay.
