Strong "You can't talk to me that way, my grandpa was the mayor in the 1980s!" vibes.

Fulham fans are very sure that the charming Cottage and west London are a draw - I don't think those things really matter all that much to the players making the decision. It seems like the ownership of both clubs are so wealthy that (with PSR restrictions) it hardly matters. FFC have way less debt
comment in response to post
Maybe. Feels like more and more players are running their contracts down to give themselves club choice. If a player simply won't sign a new deal what can Fulham (or Liverpool) do?

As a parent of the world’s blondest and ‘gonna look like a cop-est’ 8yr old I hear you. I wonder if some of this isn’t about young white men being racist/sexist, rather them worrying about doing something “wrong” bc a podcast depicted modern life as an endless series of cancellation booby traps.

I have no idea, but Bell is not LA and thus not LAPD serviced. After the past few weeks, I'm not putting a ton of stock in uniforms. Are you? I am not 'caping' for LAPD, they're largely terrible. But if ICE is tryna hit Miller's daily quotas, maybe smaller PDs or LASD makes things smoother.

But that *IS* what is happening here, no? Bell is *not* city of LA. It is a small town that contracts w the LA Sheriff Dept for "law enforcement." If LAPD is gonna blockade ICE at Dodger Stadium, LASD is gonna be much more cooperative. Paramount from a couple weekends back is another LASD city.
comment in response to post
Makes me wonder if LAPD isn't as cooperative (see the Dodger Stadium blockade) as smaller PDs or the LASD - who were fascist, street-gang-esque dispensers of violence long before ICE was invented. This *could* lead to ICE choosing to operate more away from LAPD.
comment in response to post
Bell is a separate city from Los Angeles, even though it *is* in LA County. Bell is not LAPD serviced nor do they have their own PD - rather they contract with the LA County Sherriffs Dept. Anecdotally, seems like a lot of ICE activity in non-LAPD areas of late.

You should try Dodger stadium. The ordering/food systems are still as it was when the Dodgers came west.

It's also been in the 90s the last few days in LA. Have fun sweating your asses off, guys who just got hired to be ICE contractors!
comment in response to post
I think this 'we were never there' reply is great news. This means they can be scared off. ICE could have gone with threats of arrest, but instead they went with "I didn't even want to go out with you anyway!"

Tesla was super profitable, but there will be replacement electric car companies. WaPo probably hasn't been profitable in decades, but there almost certainly won't be a replacement.

I wasn't disagreeing with that part - more the 'go smoothly' aspect. Though I guess if there are no ICE raids next summer and the stadiums are half full, that *will* qualify as smooth going.
comment in response to post
Not sure that's a recipe for fans from all around the world eagerly booking week long stays to test the theory. Saturday night at the Rose Bowl we have an Argentinian team against a Mexican team. Stephen Miller might be there personally to shout at ICE contractors.

Ha. Fair enough. I was going with the idea that Peter Thiel owns the company named 'Palantir' - that promises insight, but really just sends all your info to the big bad guy. It does what it says on the tin.
comment in response to post
Growing up in LA he had a local weekly show as well as his nationally syndicated program. My parents did not understand why I had to spend 3 hours every Sunday with a radio.

I think Vance is one of the kings who got wraithed by the great 'gifts' from Sauron. DeSantis is Lotho Sackville-Baggins, running the Shire for Saruman. The formerly never Trumpers who've kissed the ring are the Dead Men of Dunharrow. Thiel is obviously a dum-dum who stays staring into the Palantir.
comment in response to post
Is this a reference to Vance. I thought we’d agreed that Stephen Miller was Grima?

That sucks man. When I've made a trip over, those Spring-ish breaks in the PL schedule always complicate things. As does later in the season rescheduling and Cup postponements.

"The way I know I'm right is that neither of the 'scorpion mouth putters' are happy. I've angered both sides of the 'searing oral pain and potentially deadly swelling' spectrum - which reveals my innate wisdom."

I think the key here is that Tump has NOT "paused raids" rather he has made some half-assed claims on social media that hints he might wanna pause raids at certain worksites. Same time, Miller berates ICE honchos for 'moar raids!' while Grandpa is distracted. Which one is the actual govt policy?

Does ‘the Ocean’ mean zeppelin. It feels like malpractice to let a military band play fortunate son unless you’re making some alternate point.

The email is customized for me (my name) but there is absolutely no mention of the date of my reservation or the word 'tomorrow.' Eventually I find the confirmation email that includes the date and all is good, but why, oh why, email me today re how to check in tomorrow? Why no date in email?

The better any team gets the harder it is to find players at the old price points. An issue that faces Fulham is - do we even wanna make "depth" signings? Silva is so committed to playing small, well-drilled line-ups each week until someone collapses, does spending on a rotational piece make sense?
comment in response to post
I know there are varying metrics, but didn't FFC put a LOT of crosses into the box last season? I assume those don't count as the penetrations measured here. Esp against parked buses, we settled for (low %) crosses way too much last season - which would, I assume, be improved by fixes you suggest.

June 21 at the Rose Bowl is River Plate v Monterrey. I've heard this referred to as 'the ICE Bowl.' Which fan of either team is gonna go to this, considering the possible consequences? Unsurprisingly, StubHub now has tix for UNDER $20. www.stubhub.com/soccer-club-...

It sure seems like SaMoHi Hitler's meeting where he yelled at ICE execs was key to the new, more intense round of migrant kidnappings. Miller repeating that kind of thing seems WAY more likely than this statement being acted on by street level ICE subcontractors.

They're working on a 'people mover' from that subway stop to LAX proper. It is set to open spring of 2026 to ease the arrivals off all the folks coming for the World Cup and Olympics (oops).

I've kind of stopped caring about the USMNT - which is odd for me. I'm nbot sure the WC is going to even happen and if it does it will be so bastardized that it'll make the Moscow 1980 summer Olympics look significant.

yes, and bc he never had to run against GOP reminding voters of his trip to the USSR and calling Bernie a 'socialist' to his face - no one can know how he'd deal with his biggest shortcoming as a pol. Maybe he'd have handled it. Maybe not. But now he remains pure potential in the minds of fans.

It's sure starting to look like the expensiveness of living here (in California) is gonna look like a good investment going forward. A reliably blue state is probably a better protector of home value/lifestyle/school quality/etc than whatever HOA/exclusive hood/development any red state can muster.

players wanting out and/or threatening to run their contracts down might have spooked Wolves. Also, we never truly know the PSR/liquidity situation of any club - even our own.

The very fact that they bought a can labeled 'lima beans' and then were shocked (SHOCKED) to discover that there were legumes inside might indicate that journey 'back through the doors' might involve them getting lost more than a few times or distracted by a puddle.

People will do anything to avoid saying "I don't like visible street protests, they frighten and upset me." Out-sourcing one's own emotions as second-hand strategy for the people you don't like does not equal therapy.
