Imo, it's 40+ years of neoliberalism that got us to this point. This has now become the adopted orthodoxy by the major parties. They just each offer a different flavour. Two cheeks of the same arse, if you will. Feels to me like the required change is far fundamental than what is being offered.

I share your strength of feeling, but whoever said this has a point. When your own circumstances are shitty, it's easy to want to blame someone else. In step grifters like Farage, Johnson, etc. with simple solutions to complex problems.

Have to agree. Scottish exceptionalism isn't a thing. We tend to think we're pretty shit at stuff. Can't speak for NI and Wales, but pretty sure it's an English thing...

I like Richard on many topics, and dislike Starmer intensely, but not sure about this take. Seems to me the issue with Starmer is that policy and decision making is formed through a lens of achieving political benefit, rather than doing what's right.

Thanks. Bluesky should really adopt "I do not ❤️" or "👎" reactions

How likely is the inclusion of discussion on chemicals regulation (REACH) alignment?

The UK press certainly have a lot to answer for, but reporting on Starmer's blatant dog whistle to his imaginary voters is not one of them. Plus, "Finance industry proposes and develops new scheme" may not turn out to be the long term win you're expecting it to be. Time will tell.

The "experiment" is the career of a highly principled man: Peter Oborne. When he was on the right, he was all over the BBC, a favoured presenter and contributor. But *the moment* his focus shifted from right to left, in 2019, he was cut off, and has not appeared on a network BBC programme since.

Trust me, the reason we Europeans do not buy Dodge Rams, has nothing to do with them being built in Canada...

I'm not in the US, so - other than through the creation of a new world order / dismantling of transatlantic alliance, and all the instability that entails - I'm not directly affected. I think you're right re. court rulings. Then you're in a whole new world...I don't envy your position 🙏

Genuine question. How do you go about that, given the state of elected chambers, supreme court, and current dismantling federal institutions?
