It definitely works with UTM. I'm running the aarch64 version of Ubuntu 24.04, but apparently you can also turn on Rosetta support and run x86_64 VMs
(You might have a problem if it's a 32-bit distro? Or it wants to boot in classic BIOS mode?)

TBH, this sounds like NCMEC just whining about E2EE again. The article says Meta sends 2/3rds of the reports they receive. It also says:

How is this different from mobile boarding passes used today?
Southwest offers automated check-in.
Many international outbound flights in the US use facial recognition for boarding.
TSA has many lanes that just need an ID.
We're basically already there.
