I have an old high school friend who’s joining the police force. I can only hope the experience changes him for the better.

Oh yeah, sure. Take Bush’s WMD’s in Iraq and ratchet it up to 11. Great idea.

@iwriteok.bsky.social do you take bastard requests for Behind the Bastards?

The right wing always does this. They don’t think of themselves as “political”, they think of themselves as *correct*

I hate the meme (classical use) that political corruption done openly is better than if it is done covertly. Open evil is only *marginally* better than covert evil when its brazenness inspires action against it!

That aged like milk. 🥴

Fox News right now:

Something along the lines of “yeah, I’m good enough that I get off *and* my wife gets off. What, only enough brain power to focus on yourself? Skill issue, tbh”

Democrats should draw a distinction with Republicans by strongly endorsing sex where more than one person is enjoying themselves. Both an effective contrast and a way to bait hilarious viral negative polarisation content from manosphere influencers about how it's gay to make your wife climax.

Y’know, I’m feeling that Democrats need a new Obama, not “their own Trump”.

Highly doubt that the administration of people who despise the IRS and are determined to reverse literally anything the previous administration implemented are gonna continue with and repurpose the previous administrations 87,000 IRS agents over 10 years hiring goal.

At some point, I need to grow the balls to try this on my parents: “Hey, did you hear that Obama wanted to accept an Air Force One jet from Qatar and transfer it to his presidential library when he left office in 2017?” “Wait, no, I got that wrong. Trump wants to do that. In 2029.”

“Florida man harasses local megachurch with homemade whip”

Dismissing concerns about the tariffs is certainly part of it, but I also think this is just the result of someone who is deeply out of touch. Just look at the numbers he references. 30 dolls? 250 pencils? Bet he sees the kids of the people around him and thinks all the countries kids are like that.

TIL both @adamconover.net and @iwriteok.bsky.social are left-handed. Sinistrous persons! Rise up, and throw off the oppression of the dexterous!

Trump: It’s good for little girls to go without dolls this Christmas Also Trump: you don’t understand, I *need* to decorate the Oval Office in 24 karat gold! It’s very important for our nation!

Strauss-Howe theory, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bust

I’m getting the idea that people have been, without knowing it, convinced of Strauss-Howe Turning Theory and now don’t want good things for their children out of fear that it’ll create a generation of weak men.

On the one hand, I think celebrating kicking Nazi add is a fine thing to do. On the other, I’d really rather it not be because this douche canoe said to do so. Also, seems a bit strange he chose V-E Day instead of V-J Day. Guess I’ll chalk it up to pop culture shaping his view of WWII.

I know Amazon *said* they’re not showing tariff impacts on price, but I get the feeling they just said that to get Trump off their backs. Why do I think this? I’ve noticed some pretty steep shipping prices for some furniture on Amazon…

Charging $1000 for asylum is so asinine. “Sorry, you’re too poor to claim that you’re being persecuted in your home country”: www.nytimes.com/2025/04/28/u...

… it took me this long to understand that “gilded age” is saying “a golden age, but only on the surface, like something gilded only having a thin coating of gold”

Y’know, I’d be willing to put money on RFK jr. responding to “what about all the autistic people who do pay taxes and live independently, but just, really like trains?” with “well, they’re not autistic – they’re Asperger’s”

I can already hear some of the War of Dignity “realists” in my life: “Of course they get something. *They get to live.*” www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...
