You're being forward, direct; not malicious.
Spite has got intent behind it, ya know?
You'd be being rude if you said something mean; but this ain't that.

That was me in college. I wish I'd found more friends there, but oh well.
We live in a world where your best friend, whom you chat with nearly every day, can be hundreds of miles from you and you can still talk with them regularly and hang out online together.
Amazing. 👨💻👩💻

I just think that communication styles are a thing and they need to be taught.
We're just expected to... Figure this all out on our own though.
We end up not speaking the same language; and we end up just ... Misinterpreting words in text.

It just feels like there really are expected mannerisms and patterns of speech that are expected in a given area.
People tend to blend in, to adapt their speech, I suppose.
Growing up online though... Spending your time communicating in a non-physical setting?
It'll make you stand out, sure.

And, yeah, I was "oblivious" or "clueless" a lot around other people.
I didn't pick up body language well or, more specifically, just wasn't taught how to interpret some things.
Because, online, where I spend like 80% of my time communicating, body language never factors into communication.

I think I feel ya here. I grew up online playing MMOs as a kid and going onto forums to chat.
Always spoke honestly and directly; to the point. People online appreciated that. Said I was honest. 😃
In person, I get told I'm sometimes intimidating because of how I just get straight to the point. 🙃

It's absolutely insane how many older Americans don't trust their neighbors, their coworkers, their family; but will believe anything that reinforces a belief they already hold.
More willing to believe FOX News and influencers than the actual people in their lives.
