A very good post day. “Is a River Alive?” By @robgmacfarlane.bsky.social and the latest @weirdwalk.bsky.social

Having a Folk Horror Sunday reading the latest @helleborezine.bsky.social and seeing the film The Last Sacrifice at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield

Currently Reading. This one makes my inner 80s Fantasy loving Kids heart very happy 💚

Marian in the 1912 ROBIN HOOD remains aggressively undamseled throughout the film, standing up to the villains and actively participating in the rescue of Robin. Silent movies knew what was what.

Word of the day is ‘bugiard’ (17th century): one who distorts the truth beyond all recognition to fit their own agenda.

Sheffield General Cemetery today.

The Mythago Wood series by the late Robert Holdstock. Perhaps the greatest Mythic Fantasy fiction ever written in my opinion and one that gets a brief mention in my thesis because of his use of Tennyson in Merlin’s Wood and Avilion 💚

Pope Leo X and Charles V discover environmentalism

I'm in luck i don't have to work that day and can go over to Lincoln!

So much floaty Celticism about, yet no adaptation of the medieval Irish story in which the Tuatha Dé Danann make an army of zombie Greeks to fight the Philistines. Shame! [Second recension of the Book of Invasions, quoted from John Carey in 'The Old Gods of Ireland in the Later Middle Ages' (2015)]

Prospero's Books (Dir: Peter Greenaway, 1991). Just one of my favourite films ever. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRNL...

Next week I'm keeping up my New Good Friday tradition: Going to a joust! royalarmouries.org/leeds/whats-...

Now reading The Wood Wife by the wonderful @terriwindling.bsky.social 💚🌿

And just like that, the @theoatmeal.bsky.social healed all my childhood trauma.

I'm not a big fan of computer animation, some of it is good but I just prefer traditional animation. This film however was incredible. 🐈‍⬛ www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGLI...

Just finished rereading one of my favourites. 💚

Jenny, a personal favourite I sculpted a couple years ago. She’s a Swamphag, a creature I absolutely love and have painted often. I felt it was time to sculpt her. I had great fun experimenting with materials

My piece for WOW x WOW gallery Memories Become Dreams upcoming show (will open this friday) This was so much fun and sooo scary to make. So curious to see all the art from the other incredible artists! #illustrationart #dragonlovers #originalart #newcontemporaryart #fantasyart #creaturedesign

White rabbits, good luck for the first of the month. What? Well, it was white yesterday. It’s the People up to April foolery, isn’t it? Oh well. Brown rabbits to all, I suppose. #AskAFairySmith Artist: John Anster Fitzgerald

"Lisbeth Reading" (1904) by Swedish painter, illustrator, and designer Carl Larsson. #SomethingBeautiful

Currently reading. I had forgotten how beautiful it is. 💚

The modern definition of Celtic is pretty much an 18th Century invention to mean anyone living in the “British Isles” who is not considered “Saxon”.

Happy Spring Equinox to everyone in the Northern Hemisphere. May the longer days bring you so much joy 💚🌿 And happy Autumn Equinox to those in the Southern Hemisphere. May the longer nights bring you peace 💚🍁

A full U-turn is urgently needed - but the very fact Labour Govt could have even contemplated slashing support for disabled people speaks volumes

New Books

Very very tiring day at the office today 🥱

Rewatching a classic

After a long break due to post thesis burn out and then starting my current job I am going to start writing again this weekend. Sure it will be adapting part of the thesis into an article but it will be a start. I'm really excited to getting back to Tennyson and Celticism!!

I told you I was going to make more sea creature inspired stuff because I now live near the sea 🌊. Messy sketchpages are the best! Will bring some originals sketches to Playgrounds. ♥️ . . . . #art #illustrater #illustration #sketchpage #pencilart #sketches #doodleart

Really excited for this kck.st/40Y6Zy2

Etymology of the day: ‘book’ comes from an ancient root shared by ‘beech’, a wood that people used for engraving inscriptions. ‘Paper’ comes from ‘papyrus’, and ‘volume’ is from the Latin for a ‘roll’ of parchment. Happy World Book Day.

Happy #WorldBookDay. I want a world in which every child has access to books they'll love.

#fairytaletuesday In the film Labyrinth, the masquerade ball is all about illusion, but is the Goblin King’s love real? Here’s my cover of As the World Falls Down: youtu.be/KmogLvvpK40?...

It may be in February next year but have booked a ticket!! 👻
