Marshalling at Leeds Marathon and Half Marathon today. Lovey weather for spectating... not so sure for endurance running!

First ever cycling TT 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴. Full beans for 10 miles on open roads, including a dual carriageway and 7 roundabouts, was pretty intense and painful🥵 ... but a lot of fun! 28:23 was only good enough for =12th out of 14 men. I lacked youth, skill, and top-end tt bike hardware. When's the next one? 🙋‍♂️

A very fun day as 1 of 13 HPH-Tri triathletes competing at Tadcaster on Bank Holiday Monday. My 3rd visit in 4 years and the fastest so far. Tonight is a new adventure ... my first ever cycling time trial! 😬🫣

Tad Tri - first tri since the big 2023 bike crash. I marshalled last year and wondered whether I'd ever be back. Well, I am and even squeezed out a 30s course PB ... swim was 45s down but made it back up on the run. The bike was only a slight improvement despite the fancy new bike -gotta train more!

Another 5K race - very hot and a huge stitch but got the age cat win! 🥳

Exactly the same time as last month. Gave it full beans and paced it well, so I can't complain. Maybe it's time to consider some 5K specific sessions now that I'm plateauing.

Today is race day (Leeds 5K race #3)! But having managed just 2 (and a bit) runs since York 5K 12-days ago, I'm not expecting much - a niggle-free sub 21 would be good. Let's see. Then it's just 7 days until the 1st club champs race (5K) and 12 days until the Tad Triathlon (pool-based Sprint). 😬

I put the brakes on the running after last week's York 5K as had been feeling too many niggles (foot and shin - started after 16 miler). No rest though as Tad Tri is only 16 days away 😬, so lots of bike, swim and gym. I did run Bramley parkrun hard this morning, but that will be it until Wednesday.

Good weekend! Went to York seeking a sub-20🏃‍♂️ ... failed by 10s, but got my first 77% age grade. Next time! Then at our our club's Awards do, they gave me a lovely surprise!🥹🥰. Also slotted in 20K on the bike 🚴‍♂️ and 80 min lifting heavy things💪. And pressure washed the patio. 😇

Big week - 12h training... 6h running easy, 1h running harder, 1h threshold bike turbo, 4h lifting. Guilt free Yorkshire ale incoming. 🙃

A good progressive effort at parkrun, with some 5KP in the last mile. This is my last speed-work before next week's key race. Good 10 days since last 5K despite travel and pool closure. Big sunny run planned for the morning ... and then it's all about being fresh for Friday's sub-20 attempt. 😬🫣

Another 15s closer... 19s to go. Fastest 5K since 2017 and an all-time all-distance % Age Grade. 🥳. 5K racing is deeply unpleasant 🥵🤮😅

Yesterday was an hour of upper body weights and, later, an hour leading group 4 at run club. I was still battered from Sunday's long LT1 session, so I was glad to be leading a group at recovery pace. Today. Is. Race. Day. 😬 Leeds 5K Series - Race 2

When you want a rest day but you've entered a triathlon. 🤨

Weekend training: Sat... 5 mi, inc parkrun- steady, then a 2h bike skills session with tri club, inc an intense but fun duathlon race (4 run and 3 bike stages). Sun... An hour of weights and then 13.5 mi with 11.5 at LT1-hr (132 bpm ceiling) for 7:49/mi and minimal hr drift. 👌 I'm spent! 😅

50 min of threshold on the turbo yesterday instead of my usual VO2max session as I start to consider some outdoor cycling. 2 x 5 mile run commutes today... if the legs agree.

An hour lifting at the gym and an hour running with club 💪👊🏻👌.

Good week ends 13 days straight training. 5 x weights, 2 x bike intervals on turbo, 13 x runs (71 miles but just 4-5 at "pace"). Might rest tomorrow... or maybe swim.

Legs day at the gym yesterday, so I wasn't sure how the planned parkrun progressive would go this morning... needn't have worried 🤌.

👌 Good start to the week... need to finish it off now. I've just entered a sprint distance Tri, so I will need to get more swim/bike in (not sure how 😬).

Easy run at yesterday's parkrun to save my legs for today's short but intense cross country relays. Our super-vets (50+) team "The Eldar" came 2nd, while our main club representative team won 🥳!

If you're too busy to *consistently* follow a training plan (for your health and fitness!), you're too busy.
