108. Lou Reed & John Cale - Songs for Drella The two Velvet Underground members reunited after the death of Andy Warhol to record this album in honor of him. In the midst of a period of great creativity by Reed between 1989-2000.

Why I added it to the thread. It’s the virtue stuff. Same issue that got presidents of Penn and Harvard in hot water. Hard to survive the two angry poles: right from ‘society’ and left from liberal arts faculty. Medical schools caught in middle.. take money from wrong donor you could be in trouble.

He wouldn’t have any trouble finding a job anywhere in US but this whole thing turned him off. Becoming an issue in some settings especially better academic ones

They didn’t have the right scalpel and he dropped some f bombs about it and someone complained. One of those things might have been life or death: glad they chose the wrong thing.

My biggest learning from social media is never tell anybody a nuanced thought. Been hugely helpful in narrowing the topics I talk about at work. My buddy, a pediatric surgeon, was fired for swearing too much in OR. This used to be surgeon table stakes. Glad sick kids were spared!

I’m going back to OG twitter vernacular because it was fun while it lasted. I’ll list my #FF next Friday and it will be empty because we should all get offline

‘You mad, bro’ used to be shitposting when there was a question mark but now it’s just a statement and ‘mad’ half the time means ‘mentally I’ll’

Something like ‘I’m not sure about that but I agree if I were you I’d prefer mom to me’. She was joking around.

109. Randy Newman - Land of Dreams Probably my second favorite artist and perhaps my favorite lyricist. The movie stuff is fine, but his solo discography is all but unparalleled. Going to listen to this now.

110. Sol Seppy - The Bells of 1 2 She’s really a great talent. Only sporadically has put out music, unfortunately. Defies description; give it a listen. Used to sing with Sparklehorse when not making her own music, every instrument of which she plays herself.

111. Bruce Springsteen - The Ghost of Tom Joad Inconsistent but very high highs. I prefer this acoustic / softer one to the much more lauded Nebraska
