I’ll end with this: #VaccinesCauseAdults and that’s what every parent should wish for their child. It’s certainly what I wish for this one. /end

What disease have I never seen? #Polio. Why? Because #vaccineswork and #vaccines came this close to eliminating #polio from the entire world. People who fear #vaccines have no memory of watching children’s lives be (up)ended by vaccine preventable diseases like #polio or #measles. 6/

More recently, as a #pediatrician, I have seen children paralyzed by enterovirus, Guillain-Barré, and Angiostrongylus. Kids go through weeks or even months of painstaking rehab to regain skills many people take for granted, and sometimes they don't regain them all no matter how hard they work. 5/

When I was growing up in the 80s, my upstairs neighbor was a polio survivor, and I remember that she never left her house because she couldn’t get down the stairs. I was just a little girl, but I knew #polio was dangerous. 4/

My uncle was in the first cohort of grade schoolers to receive a polio vaccine in 1954, and the rest of the family was immunized a year or two later. It was only after she had received the polio vaccine that my mother was ever allowed to swim. 2/

Thoughtful? Nah, it's blitherspeak for we're afraid of being a target (pun kind of intended) and we're ok with throwing LGBTQIA+ folks under the bus.

As a fellow pediatrician I'm super excited about her candidacy. I don't know much about SC though. Is there likely to be stiff competition for the D nomination to run against Lindsey Graham?

It took you until now? Bless your heart. You have more patience than I do a thousand times over.

3/ 💉 Per @texastribune.org early #MMR doses in #infants 6-11 months has increased 4.5-fold (to >7,000) year-to-date compared with 2019. This is great news and essential to stopping this #Measles outbreak.
