Thank you!! The cover designer at Penguin and the artist, @KhadijahKhatib, did an incredible job bringing this team of kids (and fantastic beast) to life!

I remember that exact feeling; I didn't get an agent until my 7th manuscript, and in the end she didn't even sign me for that book!! My 9th is what sold!
But as long as you keep writing what you love and learning and improving, you can do this. You're really determined and that's SO important.

He has big "I AM THE NIGHT" energy for such a little (dangerous) guy.

Too much oxygen will kill you, too. Maybe we should ban that from the air. Wait, no 😂

Ben & Jerry's Phish Food is a guilty pleasure for me, but I have to shout out the Spruce Bud from Jeni's Splendid in Nashville and, of course, the Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper at Salt and Straw. Unbelievably good.

Your work is amazing and your contributions to bringing Indigenous stories into the world are SO important. I've got Race to the Sun on the shelf right next to me!
I can only hope people love my debut like they love your work! Asking for my first blurbs now; it's exciting but makes me anxious 😅

Absolutely my pleasure! I'm a fantasy author and I collect fantasy bestiaries, so I really, really mean it XD You've got a ton of talent and skill :)

These are absolutely incredible. It would be amazing to see your art in a leather bound bestiary of fantasy creatures. Sketches like these would perfectly suit the format.

It's my pleasure! My agent is a huge fan, too; she introduced me to The Girl Who Drank the Moon while I was working on my debut and once I got the chance to read it I was blown away.

We had gotten waylaid, which meant we made it in only 15 minutes before closing. Though we had to hurry for that reason, everything was nearly empty in anticipation of the end of day, so we actually got moments of silence to enjoy it all. As an author, I think of it often.

Had the privilege of visiting the Library of Trinity College in Dublin when they had a selection of Dead Sea scrolls on display many years ago. Absolutely stunning. There's something intrinsically powerful and moving about being near such vital history.

I'm reposting but I also wanted to say that your art is wonderful. Not simply because it's beautiful to look at (which it really is) but also because of how it represents your identity and fuses modern characters with an ancient, awesome style. So cool!

I legitimately believe there's nothing you can't paint on a Magic card when you put your mind to it. You are phenomenally skilled and exceptionally talented. Bravo!
