I need everyone on Normal People internet to know that American Girl Doll Instagram is doing doll protests today. There are tiny t-shirts and signs. AND THEN I realized it's a joint protest with the Barbie ppl, where there are EVEN TINIER SIGNS.

Here are some tips for ways to “show up” when you aren’t able to show up in person, as well as suggestions for all of us for building more inclusive movements for social justice and human rights.

Even before I heard the devastating, horrific news of political assassination in Minnesota, I woke up this morning thinking about Emily Dickinson's great poem "'Hope' is the thing with feathers -" Lots of people know this beautiful little poem, but fewer, I think(?) realize when it was written. /1

🔸MASK UP 🔸HIDRATE 🔸KNOW YOUR RIGHTS 🔸DON'T SIGN ANYTHING 🔸DO NOT TAKE PICTURES OF YOURSELF OR OF ANYONE 🔸DO NOT POST ANYTHING ON ANY SOCIALS Take care of yourself and each other. Be safe.

PSA for everyone going to protests

An incredibly important, hopeful piece by Dr. Chenoweth et al. about their latest research on the US protest movement. 1/2

NEW: The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has granted an administrative stay of Judge Breyer’s order — a move that puts the order on pause, allowing continued deployment of the national guard. Two Trump judges and one Biden judge on the panel.

Judge Breyer: Hey, I just wanted you to know that you can't just say the word 'bankruptcy' and expect anything to happen. Admin: I didn't say it, I *declared* it. Judge: Still, that's-- that's not anything.

Worth reading the whole thread. It really is a fascinating decision.

I know everyone keeps hopping on teams for the multitudinous simultaneous conflicts, but it weighs so heavily on my heart how many people are being hurt and/or killed, and I have no snark left. Just grief. 1/

Can we stop with the unprecedented times today

These lovely handmade notebooks are currently on sale and 50% of the proceeds are being donated to REBUILD which really needs funds. Pick up a notebook and support a great program. www.blackbirdletterpress.com/limited-edit...

A couple of months ago, I posted a checklist of things one could do to be useful in these days of rising fascism. Here’s Part Two of that list—more focused on ways to protect you and those in your tightest circles of care. Part One is embedded and also skeeted below.

Sen. Chris Murphy calls back to Trump's pardons for Jan. 6 rioters. "The message [...is that if...] you carry out violence on behalf of the White House -- you're excused. You lodge normal, protected protest against this White House? You are thrown to the ground and handcuffed."

Sen. Chris Murphy: "Spectacle is not illegal. Raising your voice is not a crime in this country [...] The standard here seems to be disruption, that if you are speaking truth to power, then you are going to be met by violence."

time for my new favorite tumblr post

Not taking anything away from Senator Padilla because he was treated atrociously But I JUST want to remind everyone that the Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, a Black woman, was just indicted for just asking questions at an ICE detention center in her state Keep that same energy of support for her

Judiciary branch making me feel patriotic again, damn it.

Good play by play here of the hearing in Newsom’s motion about the national guard deployment
