I teach a statistics class in the university's "Trading Room" normally used by the college of business. It has screens everywhere with live stock, commodity, and forex prices. It's indeed distracting and disconcerting for students to have a live market crash happening right behind their instructor.

What 2025 feels like

I know there's renewed calls for AAUP membership. I hope this bears fruit. But, I will say that the AAUP meetings I've been in prior in my career involved way too much complaining about Trump and national politics and way too little discussion of collective bargaining.
