The thing with the $80 price point is Nintendo can get away with it with certain games because of the sheer quality and polish with which they release *exclusive* games.
Microsoft releasing a game at $80 just means I'll play it when it's $15 on steam and the bugs have been fixed in about a year.

If you live in a red state, esp in the south, you know this. It's not everyone, sure-- but to say "not even sure if it's true" about him winning the election then you haven't been out there enough. He won because *most* people wanted this. Therefore *most* people in this country fucking suck.

Gotta get out of your bubble. I say this as someone with two steam decks & a legion go (& switch 2 fwiw) but the avg person will respond "what is that?" if you say the words Steam Deck much less Ally, etc. Nintendo is Nintendo. Nintendo used to be the Kleenex of game consoles and still is to many.

The disconnect between the terminally online gaming community and reality has never been more obvious. These numbers should not be a surprise to literally anyone.

the HDR support, 1440p native res, locked 60fps, and DRASTICALLY improved load times make TotK almost feel like a different game when taken holistically. The only game in NS2 launch lineup that is genuinely worth what they're charging for it imo (MK World is great btw-- at $50 in bundle).

While I fundamentally agree with what you're saying, Skip Bayless and Clay Travis have made their entire pathetic careers on spin changes and confirmation bias. Heavy, heavy emphasis on spin. So like, they do have a choice. Just have to not care if your legacy becomes "total fucking asshole".

Hell-- not to mention brand equity. That's its own can of worms. People either don't know about or absolutley love valve. People (generally) have somewhere between neutral and outright hostile feelings towards msft.

Also, I wasn't making the assumption that they (msft) would ever instruct or expect consumers to re-buy games on steam. I'm saying that their competition already has the library, infrastructure, platform, and distribution that they're 10 years behind creating bc of lack of foresight.

And while I totally get that (I was just saying I found it an odd thing to say given that context), I would also be willing to bet that if msft does bring native (or even emulated) local ports of games to Xbox PC they absolutely will be charging for said games. I'd be blown away if they didn't.

The idea that they're going to "finally make the dream of playing old Xbox games on PC a reality" is odd to me given that currently every single game in the thumbnail here (I checked) is already currently available as a native port on Steam with half of them even being verified for Steam Deck.

You are literally the second person on earth (the first being myself) that I've heard complain about this. Thank you for bringing this monumental issue to people's attention.

Haven't read the piece but with regards to the headline-- when OKC is completely loaded, has an MVP, an excellent (young) coach, oldest guy is 31, with enough assets to start a couple of expansion teams on their own it's hard to imagine a world where they aren't dominant for the next 5-8 years min.

Turning soccer into a BR game in OT sounds like the best alternative to pks or regular golden goal I've heard of. One mod I'd make is If 1v1 takes longer than 2 min the ball is removed and it becomes a Squid Game.

If it had crossplay I would've bought it by now. I own a PS5 & series x but only play multiplayer stuff thru my PC with a 5090 in it. Given ER's shaky console performance I don't like the idea of switching platforms for the multiplayer variant of it given I can't imagine it'd be anything but worse.

And the league hasn't had this level of parity since before he entered it. Makes you think. Playoff P the great equalizer.

Everything I've ever seen of him has been against my will. Seems like someone who should actually have been bullied more in HS than he prob already was.

Surprising tbh. I got really into it on my fold 6 with a dualsense edge connected to it for like a week for absolutely no reason about a year ago. For all of the shit I have given Activision over the years, I actually thought they/beenox did a really solid job with it for what it is/was.

I don't understand why some people do not realize that, when it comes to AAA games released in last 3-5 years, the steam deck is best seen as a remote play device to pair a more powerful machine. The best remote play device ever made, mind you. reframing expectations is good sometimes.

It's always been a failure of both Nomura and square/disney that that's the case. Bc birth by sleep in particular is arguably the most important in the series to understanding the story and I would be willing to bet that less than 20% of people who have played 1-3 have ever opened that game.
comment in response to

See that's the problem, there aren't 3 canonical games-- there's like 10. And fwiw, birth by sleep is extremely underrated. Highly recommend via the remaster collection if you've never played it. Dream drop distance is also fun gameplay-wise. Could take or leave the rest (mostly leave).

I am the biggest Draymond fan you'll find but the narrative isn't "angry black man", it's "mother f**king lunatic (complementary)" and that's okay. just own it. we all have our roles

Gemini on my fold 6, along w/ copilot within ms office mobile apps, has me feeling very Old Man Yells at Cloud about AI. My wild theory is that it's all one big ploy to sell dumb phone alternatives (i.e. lightphone) at premium prices in ~2 years. "This phone won't make you wanna throw it in a lake!"

It's a disaster rn. I haven't been able to update drivers on one gpu (4060) in 2 months even after uninstall/reinstall of GeForce. On my main machine (5090fe), random issues pop up every other day it seems like. I can't select anything higher than 1080p in oblivion remastered, for example.

I love this. I think this can even extend to awards contenders in some cases. I've argued with my wife for 8 years that The Post (2017) was only a good movie if you've never seen a single other movie before and I think this concept is what I was really getting at. Like an "elevated" version of it.

Yeah it's easier if you have pcie 5.0 connections on your psu but I'm not a fan of the new connectors. Too finicky. I swapped my 4070ti for a 5090fe a few weeks ago and it's an unbelievable card, def worth the upgrade. Have fun with it.
comment in response to

It's not safer. At all. This what you're doing now, next thing you know you're trying to shove a 4070ti into a 3.7L case to make a PC for your unborn child after spending $2k on a new part you'll replace in ~2 years for your daily driver. Slippery slope.
