I’ll share what I said to him: the reason we’re hearing so much AGI hype today is entirely about justifying AGI infrastructure investments. Bigger claims are needed for bigger money. You can read between the generated tokens of their press releases to tell what the AI industry is worried about…

I have given up getting my child’s school (English school, in England, tbf) to recognise the use of diacritic marks in names — although apparently they’re important in GCSE language classes.
