To me the question is who the hell are these cops? Are they cops or real law enforcement. Because they sure don’t look like it.

The indictment seems more like a PR move because they’ve got a weak case. Bondi on TV just reinforces this. Not a lawyer but maybe a judge just dismisses the whole thing?

Seems like she’s just setting up for public relations because she’s got a weak case and knows that a dismissal is likely.

Translation: she’s got nothing.

New term: “transplaining”

What’s funniest imho is that if you look at the comments, it’s all a bunch of transphobes disagreeing with him because he uses your correct gender. But the comments just prove who is attracted to his terrible reporting.

They also apply two different standards in terms of quality of evidence. For anti-trans data or evidence, they'll take just about anything, but for pro-trans data, they apply a standard which is almost certainly unachievable - especially now that bans are going to place.

Sounds like a great podcast episode as I’m in the same boat.

Made the mistake of reading the replies to her post. God X is a cesspool of hate.

Who's on the list? I'd like to counter.

Somewhat smart guy - it's pretty clear from his commentary that he's in favor of going back on the gold standard, which, in my view, is a terrible idea.

Came here to post the same thing!

Fundamentally doesn’t understand corporations or capitalism - the requirement for corps (whether you agree with it or not) is to maximize profit. Of course they’re going to pass it on - they’ll try and eat some of it to stop lower spending. Such a “business expert”.

Even from a political strategy standpoint, it doesn't seem to me to make sense. The standard move of Dems is to try and move right when they lose, but that doesn't change anything for them - still branded as communists et al.

Great! They should arrive right around when his new healthcare plan arrives.

This like 100x as someone that has spent time there. WTF.

Real question: how does it presage their downfall? I'm not seeing it.

Agreed - and even my 16 year old (who sent me this video) can get it:

Judge to DoJ: “Did you actually read the order?”
DOJ: “Yes”
Judge: “So basically you’re admitting that you broke the order in your filing.”
DOJ: (shuffles papers)

Yes and he's the most dangerous type imho - the degrees give him creditability that masks his insanity.

My guess: you get a lot of degrees, get tenure, and then slowly go off the rails.

It's almost like putting healthcare in the hands of for-profit companies turns out to be a bad idea for the health and fortunes of a family.

At first, I was disturbed that a chemistry prof from Cornell might not understand the scientific method, then I was disturbed more by him describing himself as liberatarian while espousing this. Finally, I saw he was pitching doom investment advice around gold. Then my picture was complete.
comment in response to

How does the DOJ have any lawyers left at this point? Amazed at anyone that continues to go and try and argue these obviously politically motivated and dubious claims before a judge. They should all be stripped of their ability to practice law.

Sounds strangely familiar.

It referred to the administration, but reading it back could also apply to what the press gets out of it.
comment in response to

Why don't the WH press corp just leave? Seriously, what the hell is the point of remaining in the room? At least that would send a message that their propaganda is irrelevant.
comment in response to

Seriously - how long was he there? Like 4 weeks?

And now Maher will go down the regular right-wing conversation pipeline where he will interpret critique not as a moment for self reflection and change, but as an attack that reinforces his idea that "woke" is destroying the world. It's a sad progression for someone I used to think was smart.

I'm guessing that you're writing this up but the breakdown across those sources would be interesting (understanding that 50% come from the Telegraph). Here in the US, the coverage of the trans fencer has been ridiculous.

Clearly she feels safe to make that critique - must have done some surveying to see that it was fine to go after her.

Dunno Jesse, maybe because it was normalized as a topic to be concerned about by "journalists" like you, was leveraged by the GOP in election ads ($200m spent), and now is being used to blugeon Maine?

In Maine, I believe it is even more pathetic - it's one student:

Now look at the number of trans kids playing sports and it's even more pathetic.

And he seems to think that this is an issue which doesn't matter. The Trump White House, meanwhile, is using the issue to blugeon states like Maine:

Lost the moral high ground, still haven’t figured out that you can’t negotiate with a mob boss as they’ll just keep asking for more. Depressing to watch a once-great university destroy itself.

Have they presented any evidence that he is a gang member? I'm guessing the answer is no, but that seems to be their whole justification.

The frightening part about this exchange is that is completely believable coming from members of MAGA.
