A Modest Proposal:
If all of this becomes real, why hire the person trained at an AI university?
Hire the bot!
Now the students don’t just have to not do homework, they don’t even have to (get to) work at all!
Great plan?
They’re just excess biological baggage

Bread is like wine
Wine: If you wouldn't want to drink it, don't cook with it.
Bread: If you would want to just eat a hunk of it, don't make a sandwich with it.

It's a civil trial, so there is no pardon opportunity.
Presidential pardons apply to crimes against the government.

Yes, which is why true "RCTs" in this space would be unethical

Next target: Gravity
So many things fall. If we ban gravity we can end that tragedy

Narrator: The don't have enough staff, have not for years already so this is going to make things worse.

Sometimes we make a poor choice - it happens.
I had one who tried to make it work but only told us after the second year. They simply elected to pursue another specialty. He's happy.
Just leaving and lashing out at the "medical establishment" shows an inability to accept her role in the situation.

I have been on the granting of leave several times. Family, health issues & stress were common. We required a plan, check-ins & a defined plan for completing the program/boards, usually an additional 6 - 12 required.
But all involved knew everything.
This sounds very much like poor choices.

It's a great collaboration
The VA needs staffing; this provides it at a reduced cost
The trainees need complex medical cases from which to learn, which many veterans have
The universities, which sponsor the residents, need sites to broaden and enrich the learning experience, which the VA provides

One of the largest teaching hospital systems in the country:
The Veteran's Administration
There are over 45,000 residents which fill 11,000 FTE slots across the country. In a system already understaffed & being hit with staffing cuts get shortchanged again - hitting our veterans the most.

That's just the training for new doctors to fill their roles in various specialties.
More immediately: Residents provide a not insignificant part of the healthcare workforce in both hospitals and outpatient settings

The long tail: If we shut off the pipeline now, there will be no international trainees for the next three years.
If we open the pipeline in 3 years, it will take 3+ more yrs for a Family Medicine resident to complete their program - so 6+ yrs workforce gap. Surgery 8+ years. Neurosurg 10+ yrs
comment in response to

Last time I looked, about 17% of residents are international.
That's a huge chunk of trainees who may not be able to enter programs this year - let alone resume programs
For all those who think "we'll just turn the clock back to normal when he's gone" remember these programs have a long tail

This stuff used to happen all the time on Twitter - One of many reasons why I left
Thankfully I have only had it happen rarely here on BlueSky, but it is still obnoxious.
I view this as something they would not do IRL, but with the "freedom" of SM, they reveal their true self.

We were not allowed to have ports for a thumb drive or memory card on our laptops, let alone DL datasets to the computer. You had to log out if you walked away from your desk. No exceptions.

I frequently ask patients who’s chart shows them to be Type 2 and list insulin in there meds - are they Type 1 or 2?
Amazingly how many times it is in the chart incorrectly

The JDR here promotes an amazing event to highlight Type 1 NOT being “sugar”:
The have a gingerbread house fest a couple of weeks before Christmas. These things are amazing: Manhattan and other city skylines, Hogwarts, a Merry Go Round, etc all about 6 feet tall
We help promote it in our office

One common factor with Judgment at Nuremberg, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner & Inherit the Wind:
Stanley Kramer
We did a Kramer binge a few weeks ago with these three as well as Inherit the Wind, The Secret of Santa Vittoria & On the Beach.
He got amazing performances from some amazing actors

Had to deal with an “emergency” on a flight where guy had incontinence issues, so he stopped drinking fluids the night before
As he became dehydrated in flight, pulse raced, BP dropped, got confused, yadda, yadda
Got him hydrated - and convinced no water was not the best plan

Yes, this is why we never saw it work:
“So we will never know if Ivermectin and Fenbendazole would have worked for him or not. Trying it for one month and then stopping, is not sufficient to make any sort of conclusion.”

Blocked Wanda
I Can’t imagine the pain this young woman suffered - and would not dream of judging her
Wanda appears to have issues and some pain in her life as well - but I have no need to be party to them anymore than she needed to be part of this young resident’s pain

While we knew The Night Watch was under going extensive restoration, still disappointed we could only view it from 30 feet away
Even more disappointing: I have no other pictures from inside the Rijksmuseum due to every thing being so awesome.
I just have to console myself with some Jenever

So sorry to hear of the passing of your friend and companion Bode.
Any time we lose our fur friends it is so tough as their love is unconditional - other than a pet, a walk and a bowl of treats.
The unconditional love they give is so hard to find in our world but seems so natural for them.

I get it for those for whom this is part of their gig, etc - bad actors such as this are a PIA
I despise bad actors on principle

Service members don’t actually have any options in this
You can’t “decline” an increase in pay
But cool he is advocating service members talking a cut in pay “for the good of the country”
Lead by example buddy

Also in the Pacific NW:
I’ve seen Dungeness Crab Chowder
Dungeness crab is to only be eaten from the shell, not cooked in anything, just steamed, with butter and sourdough bread

From the Pacific NW, the tomatoes do not go into chowder. Some potatoes, lots of clams
In season, for a couple of weeks: Razor clams, but not for sharing outside the family
