So I am my own enemy?

The small colleges don't have many international students. We are literally having our enemies teach our children and do the scientific research, all because the universities are cheap and can exploit foreign students.

Whose fault is that? No excuse for what academia did. A FAFO moment for academia. Only the big boys will collapse; the smaller colleges that are sneered at and made fun of because their focus is educating Americans will be just fine.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, especially in the STEM fields. Everyone complains about the lack of Americans in STEM who have PhDs, but those of us who do get pushed aside by academia because we don't bring int'l students, who are a huge profit center.

I suspect the critics didn't read the entire thing. I also suspect the critics are bigoted, and don't like her because she is a WOC.

Read the entire transcript. She did it perfectly to get him to admit he isn't joking.

It has always been about the money in academia. We need to quit living in the Pollyannaish delusion that academia cares about education. Encourage people to attend smaller universities that are not beholden to expensive athletics and corporate funds.

Except he doesn't think it is a scandal, so he would have no need to distract from it.

Maybe because that is always the excuse, so she got it out of the way immediately.

No, he is clearly telling us that he wants to be a dictator. He doesn't consider the Signal incident a f--k up.

I don't think he would approve. Even Lucifer would not approve.

How about neither, and be a free and independent country?

I never said they were. But, when the nazis put out a document claiming that people with certain tattoos are gang members and need to be arrested, prudence dictates you don't get the tattoos listed as you are putting yourself at risk.

You obviously have not interfaced with enough misogynists who view women as subservient property who have to be "marked". As a man, I don't have a choice because they are my co-genderists and I am surrounded by them.

Other than to draw attention to yourself, why get them at all? Sometimes the attention we get is the wrong kind, as in this case.

And criminals are common in those places, too. Your point?

Among many they are. How many tattooed Muslims do you see? Mormons? Hindus? Don't make blanket generalizations.

You do know why that is, right? Because the men force the issue as they view the women as property.

Better yet, I will ask my Russian son-in-law and my future Japanese daughter-in-law about it, but I am sure they don't know their own culture.

That is great, but it doesn't change the fact that in many countries tattoos are taboo.

The administration is hastening the demise of Big Academia. They did this to themselves out of ego and greed.

You do realize that a lot of white people have tattoos, right? What was the complaint against Hegseth - he had tattoos that white nationalists favor. Get a tattoo that resembles a tattoo used by MAGA, criminals, and other undesirables, you take the chance of being one of them.

Two completely different issues. Sending anyone to El Salvador except Salvadorans is unacceptable.

An old article and biased if you look at the names of the sources. The claim that for every international PhD in the STEM fields there is a domestic PhD is categorically false, as the universities don't create new slots, only invest in the existing ones. Marginal domestic students deserve a chance.

Financial aid comes from the government and the private sector and is administered through the universities, who take a cut. The universities actively recruit foreign students because they make more money from them, which goes to pay for lavish sports arenas, administrative buildings, etc.

Interesting how the tattoos were very similar. In other countries, only gang members get tattoos, so the logic does make some sense. Lesson? Don't get tattoos.

No, we didn't, but no one listened. Don't speak on behalf of all of us critical observers. Just because you and most of the "pundits" and party hacks underestimated, don't lump the rest of us in it.

Because she violated her visa by selling stuff out of a California address. That is on her for willingly violating her visa.
comment in response to

No, the Vancouver Sun is for only relying on the mother, who of course will lie on behalf of her daughter. Or, the daughter lied to the mother about why her visa was revoked. They just don't revoke them and not give a reason.

You need to tell the rest of the story. She was selling something that contained an illegal controlled substance and was based out of CA. She is not quite as innocent as she claims, as she knew it was an illegal substance.
