On the topic of getting reports and data about the workplace (from a health and safety perspective) I asked if there is "an expiry data" on such reports and was told no. JHSCs should have access to historical reports as long as it is relevant.

Yes, but the LCBO didn’t stop buying and selling American wine. It simply routes it through Costco, Loblaws and other retailers. Enough.

This is so messed up.

I'm assuming so.

Going over the powers of the JHSCs. JHSCs should be able to access all testing related to health and safety. Not just hygiene testing.

Day 2 of PSHSA JHSC Certification Training. Starts with preview of tomorrow's exam. Instructor calls the exam a "Celebration of Knowledge." Love it.

I wonder how much of this applies to department chairs, professors supervising research assistants (paid grad students), etc.

Interesting tidbit from the PSHSA lesson: the health and safety policy for a workplace in Ontario needs to be signed by "the highest level of management at the workplace."

Important detail in OSHA. In OSHA, capital-D Director is "Director of the Ministry" whereas lowercase-d director is director from the place of employment.

According to the instructor, THIS is the number 1 clause under OSHA that employers are charged with: "(h) take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker;" www.ontario.ca/laws/statute...

Apparently this is new: "(b.1) any personal protective clothing and equipment that is provided, worn or used is a proper fit and is appropriate in the circumstances, having regard to all relevant factors, including such factors as may be prescribed;" If you get PPE, it has to be the right PPE.
