It would be the case after 1985, when that language was added to Title I, Canon 17. But did such a thing ever happen? 1973 Trial Use (referred to as Zebra Book LOL) contained Confirmation. It was 1976 Proposed Book which left it out, and that was never approved or used but was amended to include it.

There should be no canonical or liturgical reason to deny any such person Confirmation; chrismation at baptism by a bishop is/was specifically not confirmation, and the rubrics and canons later stated it was expected all baptized persons would be confirmed/received by a bishop.

I always wonder about the alternate universe where Confirmation was not added back at the 11th hour at the 76 General Convention after being left out of 1st draft of 79 BCP. Eastern Orthodoxy seems to have done just fine without episcopal confirmation for 1,500 years…

Every time this comes up I feel like saying in Morgan Freeman Narrator Voice “What if I told you how Eastern Orthodox Churches distribute communion…”

There are endless statements and pamphlets in the antebellum period that say more or less “You know if there wasn’t so much wealth to be created nobody would even bother with the slave system all the religious and social reasons given for slavery are just excuses because it’s all about the $$”

Every June I when I lived in the Bay Area I would feel like Sherlock Holmes in 1880s London trudging through drizzly foggy streets...not even gonna talk about going to Giants night games at old Candlestick...

A key for me is Saepius Officio, the response sent by Abps of York & Canterbury, who point out that the very standards laid out in Apostolicae Curae to nullify Anglican order also makes their own RC orders questionable.

Yeah had people argue both before…the internet, amirite? It’s like they let anybody on it. But hey at least this time around the ABC can be a woman! That was not even an option for the last appointment.

Yeah didn’t want to go too deep down the rabbit hole since there’s genuine legal debate over this. I agree that being a citizen of one of 15 commonwealth members would suffice but I have had people argue differently. But clearly solely American citizenship would be an issue.

I’ve always been perplexed that Anglicanism somehow thinks only one thing can be commemorated per day. Catholic Church has multiple commemorations on same day, Orthodox Church has a special liturgy for when Annunciation falls on Easter and celebrate both. Do we think, like, God would get confused?

I answered this question in a job interview once with “Luke, Acts of the Apostles.” Several people on the search committee laughed and one said “No seriously.” I was like “Seriously.” They then looked uncomfortable like I had just farted loudly.
Spoiler: I didn’t get the job.

What’s even weirder is when you know the parish and read the profile and are like “Wait what this is what they are thinking??”
