I notice someone chose the middle of the Tasman Sea though which is a bit of a head-scratcher.

Hmm - but that friend's rockets keep blowing up so I think we missed out there.

in the winters of 2020 and 2021 I took out around 20 hot water bottles a night to rough sleepers within 5 minutes walk of my K Rd pad. In 2022, almost all were housed. This winter, it seems, I'll have to start all over again. This government is both cruel and heartless. Christians? Pfffft...

All that crap about benefit fraud and the biggest beneficiaries in the country are landlords who have a myriad way of avoiding payment of their taxes.

Google is becoming utterly redundant as my search engine now. That AI nonsense is merely that - nonsense.

I had a similar journey with my Mum. There's a physical component to grief which I was totally unprepared for (usually while doing supermarket shopping). Now I know why the best support often comes in home-cooked meals delivered by your friends.

I'm loving she gets retirement instead of being worked into an early grave (unlike some of her human patients)

It's so infuriating. I was expecting crappy, self-serving decisions but the sheer level of PR spin and outright lying is being taken to a whole new level with this bunch. At least Key's lies seemed vaguely plausible.

Seymour's alleged 'desire to eliminate division in society' was and is as believable as Luxon claiming his landlord handout was all about helping poor people by lowering rents. (Our rent went up by $50 for the first time in a decade)

Same! (Although we won't get the chance to watch Rogue 1 until the weekend) - best Star Wars spinoff and movie of all time.

Slightly different but still incredible is A Woman in Berlin - written anonymously about the experience of a woman as Berlin fell in 1945. Grim but gripping

I read Into that Darkness by Gitta Sereny a while ago and Zone of Interest reminded me of it. Thoroughly recommend that book (and the movie) despite them being about different people and camps. It still examines that banality and is an astonishing piece of work. (Not a happy read though)

Youtube discovered I was an ageing white man during the election and served up Hobson's Pledge crap to me. I shouted "I want to buy a dildo" at the screen every time and now I'm enchanted by the range and colours available. (Bonus - no more racist content)

It's Brown's weirdly inconsistent stuff the makes me nibble my fingernails. He's deadly one inning and then gives up a hatful of hits in the next. I think you made the case for his eventual move to being a shut down option from the bullpen. I think you're spot on.

Strangely, I quite liked the taste but this was in Fiji and we had bought 7 year old kava roots for a village chief. Definitely felt like my body was drunk but my brain was still pretty clear (but very chatty)

Another really sensible Green budget - the real test is to sell it to a dubious public who are constantly told it comes from cloud cuckoo land. Keep up the great work and let's go!

I understand the sentiment but I'm not sure I'd like to inflict Luxon and his shithouse work ethic on those poor, unsuspecting old folks.

Good. It has been a real frustration that the George Courts Body Corp have had such an oversized influence on that decision when I know the majority of GC residents are very pro the original plan and the Body Corp is claiming to represent us. Bloody annoying.

The arc of his career, from shows about catching animals for zoos through to his increasingly 'environmentalist' docs, maps almost perfectly onto human understanding of the creatures we share the world with and our impact on them. Astonishing achievement.

Sadly, I agree. There is a tremendous depth of feeling out there which needs to gel around one movement, one idea and one direction which will bring this whole charade crashing down. I’m just staring into space right now in search of it.

Campbell very effectively reveals how Tamaki always requires someone to blame or victimise. The point is that his 'movement' or 'church, (however you wish to describe it) requires constant conflict. If they weren't picking a fight with the LGBT+ community it would be someone else in the crosshairs.

Dear God - Manfred has had some bad ideas in the past (to be fair - there have been some good ones) but this plan absolutely takes the cake. If Pat Hughes is replaced by a computerised voice then I'm going to be engaging with a lot less baseball...
