i feel like to change the world for the better toward critical thinking it’s important we shift to understanding something over remembering it exists. no one ever truly learns something, they remember and forget it, need to brush up and explore it beyond face value multiple times.

i work in seo & self taught in google analytics. i’ve never done the training & the only time a boss forced me to get the certification i cheated (very obviously too to make a point) because all those certified people still constantly ask me how they do something. but well done memorising buzzwords.

i also know people who read a book a week and can quote it from their head but use it in the completely incorrect context. that’s memory retention, not intelligence. which is also how most standardised tests work.

i’m not booksmart. i struggle to read books. i understand concepts of philosophy through therapy and general reading but couldn’t quote many. documentaries,web articles and podcasts just hit my attention span right.
