Padilla (along with Schiff and Booker) voted for the crypto-supporting GENIUS Act. Any chance you grilled him on that little bit of industrial-scale grift?

What is going on right now is insane for sure. Obama *did*, if you recall, tho, more or less shrug off black sites and Guantanamo with, “We tortured some folks.” And then got back to it.

Everybody would just like to be fed their lines thank you very much. Very little to be said about *anything*: facists and nazis openly supported and saluting from halls of power, ever more frequent environmental catastrophes: no opinions. But look to us for meaning and, maybe, vote for us.

There’s that vaunted sense of humor the Times has grown to appreciate so well over these last months.

Trump literally used Palestinian as a pejorative on the first debate with Biden (which feels like decades ago now.) No one had fuck all to say about it.

Thank you. Sounds like there could be parallels to the crowd that followed Putin into power.

The pleading menace of an abusive husband spiked with a healthy dose of Norman Vincent Peale. Truly horrifying.

His use of the term Palestinian as a slur didn’t seem to warrant much examination over there either. It’s almost like they need one another, DJT and the Gray Lady.

It’s a horrible thing to behold but
his off the charts narcissism makes him completely transparent.

A smart phone is so extravagant an object in and of itself so as to be almost antithetical to creative work. And to knowing ourselves and what we are capable of. But yeah incredible tool without a doubt.

As someone who places a lot of value in creativity, and its potential, I am repelled by AI art. But I am old and remember being repelled by doing creative work on the computer when people first started to. These tools are double-edged and have enormous downsides. Nobody can fully understand them.
