Poor choices landed me here. OIF and OEF vet, former AUS (the airport, not the country) and Army spox, now talking energy. Generally helpful, usually on background.

Okay, that's pretty good.

Man, I cannot wait to see this. Seems like a perfect film to make a run through Alamo Drafthouse, like what they did with some of Alex Winter's documentaries.

Hell yeah!

What has he seen?

Gotta say that as a person not born here, I'm definitely feeling a lot of feelings.

11 years (aka a lifetime ago) I took a little trip.

Yo, I know we all have a lot going on, but what's with these SUPER weird AI animated videos of historical figures the White House uploaded to YouTube by the *dozens* earlier today?

It is honestly surreal seeing the luster having fully worn off of AUS in recent years. 5-6 years ago it had a strong argument for top 10, now, not even in the top 50.

I think Wired is great and have been a subscriber for years, but these types of stories are turning me into Serena Butler.

What athlete's expression will stay with you the rest of your life? This. Always this.

I've lived in Texas long enough that the several months of summer hell-heat is still on the way, but a front blew through this afternoon and it's currently amazing outside.

Oh fuck, @militarydotcom.bsky.social - a site that has done incredible work covering military and veterans issues for years now - is being reportedly sold to freaking Valnet of all places.

Had to add a movie that wasn't on their list!

All I'll say is I picked a heck of a time to leave the Pentagon and get into oil and gas.

So much for not having a drink tonight.

Just wrote my Congressman, not that it will make a difference.

Had a million DD-214 and snarky jokes in my head, but this is just real bad stuff.

Fuck.

Ok so that new game The Alters kicks absolute ass.

Hey folks. I know there's a lot going on right now, but I'd really appreciate it if you read this piece I wrote on the perils of raising an autistic child during the era of RFK Jr. and his campaign of insane conspiracies and cruel scare tactics geared toward people on the spectrum.

So many JAWS memories - from seeing it on the water in Austin in 2016 where I got my first Mondo poster, to getting to share it with my stepkids for the first time, to when my friend's gf screamed and jumped so hard during the night dive jump scare scene she *dislocated her shoulder* in the theater.

Drove through part of the UT campus this morning, and I regret to inform you that the kids are wearing socks with sandals now.
