Your brain doesn’t just passively track time ⏳ - it structures it. In @Science.org we show that activity in 🧠 memory circuits (LEC) drifts constantly, but makes sharp jumps at key moments, segmenting life into meaningful events. (1/2) 👉 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

A super cool, mind blowing new story from my colleague @nbellono.bsky.social showing how sea slugs steal algae chloroplasts to perform their own photosynthesis!…🧪🧬🧠🐌 @harvardmcb.bsky.social

This is an excellent article on the termination of all federal funding at Harvard. This visualization shows all of the terminated programs that were supposed to train the next generation of scientists. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Thank you so much Catherine @dulaclab.bsky.social for a thought-provoking and an eminent talk today at @kavlintnu.bsky.social @edvardmoser.bsky.social

Delightful visit and dinner today in Trondheim and more tomorrow: thanks again @m-bmoser.bsky.social and @edvardmoser.bsky.social for giving me a chance to present our new data on social and sickness behavior. Looking forward to hearing more about the amazing projects at @kavlintnu.bsky.social

10 years of social dynamics and over a year of vocalization by wild mice in the wild, simply amazing! Great work by @nickjourjine.bsky.social at the very precious mouse barn established by Barbara König

Wonderful visit @mdc-berlin.bsky.social thanks @hannahornberg.bsky.social for the invitation and congrats @khallaf.bsky.social for showing me such cool data on naked mole rats!

Since the end of WWII, US scientific research has been funded in government-university partnerships, following a visionary strategic plan written by FDR's science advisor. Whatever is happening to US research funding right now, I have not seen a thoughtful policy explanation for it. We deserve one.

Harvard's mission is knowledge production and education in service of the public good. We offer many online courses for the public and for free. Check out some free offerings here:

Proud of Harvard for pushing back, exercising some creativity, and, maybe, helping folks get some needed education. Harvard is making many of their online government courses FREE. I just signed up for "Citizen Politics in America". They even asked me my Gender. pll.harvard.edu/subject/gove...

Gut-wrenching, surreal day in science. Gave a seminar at Harvard on the same day most investigators got NIH grant termination emails. Should I have paid for dinner?? I did try to be as entertaining as possible…

Given all that is going on consider this quote from Bertram Russell's 1930 book The conquest of Happiness: “The man who can be interested in the structure of atoms or the way in which a beetle navigates, is likely to get a joy in life which no amount of success in the pursuit of power can give. ”
