I really didn't think I was going to have to boycott two world cups in a row but there we go.

I was saying this exact thing to an American chum the other day. When we sing the alphabet it feels so stupid going "W, X, Y and ZED" as if that even remotely rhymes or feels right.

What if you've already seen John-Luke Roberts live? Is it better to see John-Luke Roberts multiple times than never to have seen John-Luke Roberts multiple times at all?

There's a Football Manager mobile version free through Netflix that is like it used to be. Just buy and sell players, choose your formation, and get refused by the board for a stadium expansion. Just like the good old days!

Maybe if he stopped trying to appease Reform voters who aren't ever going to vote for him anyway...

Whilst ignoring the votes that, say, the Greens will gain.
comment in response to

My concern is that they'll lose votes and Reform will gain votes so they'll think "oh hey, let's try to win right wingers over" again

I want to make a G4 joke but it's late and my brain can't get it to work. But I do think we can agree that if I'd come up with something good, it would have been some joke.

Not smug at all, there's absolutely no need to be condescending and judgemental simply because I don't want trans people to die.
comment in response to

Me too. And I won't sacrifice trans people to get there.

Hey, I'm not suggesting splitting the left. I'm suggesting voting for the actual left wing option. That's the Green Party. Feel free to join me.
comment in response to

That's not how it works in the UK.

Zero. How many have Reform formed?
comment in response to

And in the meantime the right wing parties are allowed to set the agenda whilst their opposition equivocates and equivocates and equivocates... I'd rather fight back by fighting for progressive parties and policies than roll over in the name of the lesser of two evils.
comment in response to
post
Like Reform? UKIP never stood a chance but look now, everything Reform stands for BECOMES the national conversation. You can't say "they haven't a chance" when votes tangibly, demonstrably make a difference.

But it won't be a protest vote. It will be me exercising the only power and voice I truly have. I will vote Green in the knowledge that their vote share and influence increases with every passing election.
comment in response to
post
Greens are significantly more popular here, and rising with each election.
comment in response to
post
How do I push them? Labour have the power to help them and they are doing the opposite. I repeatedly protest, I repeatedly email my MP, I repeatedly advocate my position publicly. It has yielded nothing. We could, instead, show them that progressive policies are popular. That remains an option.
comment in response to
post
I'm 46 years old, I think I know how to assess the relative merits of political parties thank you. At the local elections an enormous statement could be made to Labour that progressive policies are popular. That's how UKIP got us in this situation in the first place.
comment in response to
post
Hey, instead of advocating for Labour, why not help lead a progressive push for the Green Party? Why is that less acceptable than voting to harm a marginalised people? You could be part of a real change. But youd rather patronise and moralise and accept the actual deaths of those with barely a voice
comment in response to
post
So throw trans people under the bus? They are being harmed, directly, now. Why should I accept that?
comment in response to
post
You are asking me to make the same mistake twice. I already voted for Labour, and now trans people face an increased threat. How can you countenance insisting that I just ignore that? I am partly responsible for making trans people's lives worse. Labour shift their position or I do not vote for them
comment in response to
post
Ok, I'll say it again: I will not vote for a brazenly transphobic party. I will not accept them as collateral damage. I will passionately advocate for them along with other progressive policies. It's not purity, and trans people aren't foxes, they are people and endangered by the current government.
comment in response to
post
I'll be voting against anti trans policies. Your bullying tone will never work with me.
comment in response to
post
No. I'll vote for the Green Party, which is the party that most aligns with my values. You won't bully me into capitulating on trans rights, and the fact that you don't care about them speaks volumes.
