I remember when he started showing up in U.S. movies, and I was like, "hey, the guy from Privateer 2!"

I don't have as much time for retro gaming as I'd like, but I do enjoy older PC games. Favorites are the Wing Commander series, Master of Orion 1 and 2, most of the Sierra adventure games, Fallout 1 and 2, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, The Dig, the fiest Deus Ex. Too many to list, really!

All it took was a national figure who won the Republican nomination, then the White House, for them to feel like they were "safe" to say those things all the time. (2)

This is true, but they often go to their parents, who I've found are rarely open to considering my point of view. It's really quite unfair.

I had so much fun with this game back in the day. And its sequal, Crusader: No Regret!

It depends on what was being lamented. Really, we don't have enough context to decide.

I'd ask him to stop, but it's really his whole identity now. What else is he supposed to do?

Pretty sure this is all my fault. Growing up in the late 1990s, I once wished I was living "in more interesting times."

My Dad bought a newer PC in the late 80s with a monochrome monitor that showed everything in yellow. I played my first Sierra adventure games on that. It would be a few years until we got a color monitor - even EGA graphics looked impressive when they were in color the first time! (2)

The first computer I can remember using? I can't remember exactly what kind it was, but it was an early 1980s model. The monitor showed everything in green, and all programs ran directly from a floppy disk. The disk drive was noisy as all hell when it was in use. (1)

Hopefully someone tells Daniel Casey not to use that one for research, then.

I really need to pick up the books on Kindle and do a re-read.
Did they ever fix the issues with the final book? I heard it had problems and never bothered with reading it.

Man, does this take me back. So much fun! The funny thing is, though, I can't seem to play MOO 1 very well any more. Every time I try to sit down with the version I got through GOG, it kicks my butt.

Don't know how I feel about this... So much of what makes Mass Effect special is our ability to define our own Shepards and shape the story for ourselves. I imagine a TV show will create pressure to make more decisions from the game "canon."

I wish. "College era" me would be shocked to hear me say it, but I'd love to wake up in 2004 or 2005.
