Shuji is so fucking boring! He doesn't do anything! Why do these girls like him! He's not even interesting!

I think it has some moments and I really like their interpretation of Kycelia, but is bogged down by doing the One Big Plot instead of trying to tell something more grounded and compelling.

Using genAI as the former is a surprisingly fun toy and curiosity. AI Dungeon is a good example of this. (This is not an endorsement of GenAI)

Yeah, but they wouldn't say "due to negative edge" or "it's on negative edge" like how it's used in the fgc though?

They got hands on the piss tape, Mike.

Wow! So the electricians are the dumbo nerds making up silly terms for "off" then.
(Seriously, it's cool it comes from somewhere other than just forum weirdos reverse engineering video games. In that context is it used mainly as "on the negative edge"?)

What I love about these terms is they were what the buttons were listed as on the cabinets. I wonder if there's an oral history on why those words were chosen.
comment in response to

Yeah. It's still a pretty clunky term for what's happening in the game logic, but I see how they got there.

(it's because the inputs "select" different "options" depending the game state from the opponent's actions.)
comment in response to

Is this a real question, because the answer is fucking stupid but at least makes more sense then calling "on release" "negative edge".

Don't get me started on the backwards structure of UFWC and many similar unions. Haha

There was a Metroidvania like this. Each time you fought a boss the other enemies would get stronger instead of you. Can't remember the name.

Survival crafting games (treepunchers) also share this loop.
But it is often a Loop and eventually the attrition gives way to the acquisition.
It would be cool if there was no loop. You just get progressively worse as you go. I guess that's often just "difficulty", but that's not really what I mean

Like the classic dungeon crawler loop is this. You start with full resources and gradually lose HP/MP/items as you delve deeper before you have to return to town. It plays with both attrition and acquisition. I think that's why it's such an enduring genre.
comment in response to

I always wanted a game where you started with really good stuff but then could only pick up worse and worse equipment/items as it went on and you spent your resources.
It would work for some many genres.
I have a lot of thoughts on this.

Oh I occasionally have an issue like that. Something the wifi to my phone gets interrupted if I'm on the couch (about 6ft from the router) but not in the bedroom where there is a wall, the kitchen, and the couch in between it and the router.

To be blunt, by this point I don't see how Israel should be allowed to exist as a state entity.

My computer speaker set up has a hum that I know is from one the near by cables, but there's literally so many that I cannot bring myself to be bothered by it.
Also when I turn off my speakers, my monitor will go black for a few seconds. It doesn't lose power, it goes black
I simply refuse to care

This is the thing I never got about the "hyper efficiency" folks. They say they want to get all this work done as efficiently as possible, but never what they will do with all the time they "save" other than doing more work. Which seems like a waste of time.

What if a dog was voiced by the same guy voiced Legato in Trigun? (Which I thought was Liam O'Brien, but they just have a similar sicko guy voice.)

I think once we get rid of trump, we should get rid of any bills or appointees from his terms.

Yeah, I almost typed that, but even if you could turn a profit from a hobby there's often a big community that's doing it from love and is resistant to that sort of exploitation.
comment in response to
post
You also see a lot more cooperative structures in community focused hobbies like video game speedrunning since applying capital is not practical or maybe even possible.
comment in response to
post
Sort of! There's various cooperatives under capitalism, but they're often small or don't really talk about their structure (the Wine Society for example. Literally just learned about it)
There's numerous and long running flatly structured mutual aid orgs, but they membership is often in flux.

I do agree with this. The only thing I would add is that any structure needs to come from the workers (and situationally, the stakeholders) themselves and they should be free to reorganize that structure when they see fit.
