Wednesday’s announcers said that Teuchert told them to say it that way (after they kept asking him). I assume he was trolling them (or just fed up), but it’s annoying that now they’re definitely going to keep it up.

True, there’s a big difference between choosing to personally say “pitch” and saying that “field” is wrong for anyone to say.

It’s so weird. Like, using the terms is one thing. If you want to call the field a “pitch” or out of bounds “into touch”, I can get it. But affecting a British pronunciation for a word we already have in American English with the same meaning is just bizarre.
